Chamber Music coming to Lucan
LUCAN -. Lucan
United Church con-
tinues with its con-
cert series, this
month featuring
Chamber Music.
On Sunday, March 29 at 2
p.m., the church presents a French
Horn trio and a classical guitar
trio from the University of
Western Ontario_ Faculty of
Music.
Chris Passmore and Troy
Ducharme are members of these
trios.
Chris Passmore studies French
Horn at UWO and plays in this.
trio, as well as other large and
small ensembles.
" Troy Ducharme studies guitar
and composition at UWO, and is
a member of this guitar trio.
Over the past few years Lucan
United Church has presented'
some fine concerts featuring tal-
ent from the Faculty of Music.
The first event featured profes-
sors Alvin Reimer. Darryl
Edwards and Brian McIntosh in a
Tight opera by Sir Arthur Sullivan.
Next was the Temere String
Quartet, together with professors
Ralph Aldrich and Alvin Reimer.
Earlier this year, tht Thames
Brass, a brass quintet from UWO,
presented a Christmas concert.

euchre March 11 at the Legion hall
with live tables in play: •

Rinn, ladies most lone hands - a tie
between Reit Vander Burgt and Til-
ly Van Lceuwen. Mans high won
by Mary Van DeVooren playing a
man's card. Mans low - Allan

Finkbeiner. •
Next euchre will be 'March 25 at
7:30 held at the Legion Hall.

Sixteen . ladies gathered in the
Sunday School rooms of the United
Church on March 21 for the UCW
meeting. Vice President Joyce
Thomson greeted everyone. Vera-
Rempel gave the opening worship
and prayer. reading scripture from
Luke 5: 5-15. Hymns were sung ac-
companied by Irene Kennedy at pi-
ano. -
Loreen Gill spoke to the group on
"Loneliness" telling us it is univer-
sal. Not only older people, but chil-
dren from broken families. students
away from home for. first time,
abused .children, immigrants and
refugees, young mothers, divorced
people; old.folks in nursing homes
and those who are shut-ins.
Vice President Thomson presided
for. business. Letters were received
from the Leprosy Mission also Frcd
-Victor Mission in Toronto. 1t was
announced the Easter Ecumenical
to : he held April 7 at 7:30 at St.
John's Anglican Church.
The minutes were read by, the

back to British Columbia. We have
certainly enjoyed her in our midst
since 1980. Reminder of the pot
luck supper at 6:30 April 1 when
the DDP makes her official visit.

Scriptures were read by Lynn
Desjardine. The choir anthem was
"How lovely are the messengers,"
(Mendelssohn) 'a duct by Edward
Avey/Don . McLean and chorus
from.St. Paul. -
• At the Sunday service, March 29,
"Special Lenten Music" will take
place, with soloist, violin, cello,
flute, harpsichord, choir and or-
gan.
Confirmation classes continue on

was held at Grand Bend United

Jeffrey, son of Steve and Stephanie
Mathers was baptized.

tures were read by'Glena Horner.
Choir anthem' was, "Rejoice in

Flowers placed in the sanctuary
were in loving memory of Barry J.
Clark, by his family.Volunteers arc
needed to staff the Nursery for the
months of April May and June.
The theme, Welcome Home! was
