man Catholic Mission.
The World Day of Prayer is a
global, ecumenical movement of
"informed prayer and prayerful ac-
tion." On the first Friday in March
each year, people in over 170 coun-
tries participate in a service•that is
common throughout the world. Ser-
vices are translated into hundreds
of languages -and dialects.
- This year's service was written
by women in Madagascar, an In-
dian Ocean island off the African
coast. The central question of the
event was how women throughout
the world and the Malagasy can he
good neighhors to each other.
Elinor Clarke of Corbett was the
t ,aker at Friday's event
with eight area churches par-
ticipating.
