On Friday, students involved in a drama production went to the
"Sears Festival" drama competition in -Blyth. The festival is a compet-
itive showcase of student performed plays from different schools.
Over a period of four days, fifteen plays were seen and students
were involved in other events like toga parties, dances, and work-
shops.
h was a positive experience for the students who attended. M -
though South Huron's play.called "Blood Relations" was not chosen
to go on to the next level of competition, two of the actors from the
show were given awards of merit for their performance.
• A chocolate fund raiser for the .school began on Friday. Students:
were given boxes of chocolates to sell to help pay for things that go .
on within our school. Fund raising money can be used for anything
from new water fountains and cafeteria tables to paying for busses for
at cites. 'ou can have a tasty treat and at the same time help support
our school by`doing something as simple as purchasing a box of choc-
olates from a student!
A recognition assembly will be held this morning (Wednesday)..
The student body will gather in the gym to see and recognize various
teams and groups within the school. These types of assemblies are
held for school spirit and to show appreciation for the groups in the
school that help run things or represent the Panthers in things like ath-
letics.
In the past these types of assemblies have included.only athletic
teams, but since there is so.much involvement in ,non -athletic extra .
curricular activities other school groups like OSAID and "Reach for • .
the Top" will also be recognized. It is important to recognize the. stn=
dents involved in school groups so they will feel motivated to keep
doing well and also to inspire more people to get involved.
