Pancakes on the menu in Varna

VARNA - President Deb Rath -
well opened the Varna UCW meet-
ing with a poem "The More You
Give". Melissa Sparling a student
in Grade 5 at Huron "Centennial
School read her speech on the ice
storm in the east. She covered all
the tragedies they suffered with no
hydro. Marg Hayter thanked her
for her knowledge.
The cookbooks are still selling. A
letter was -received from Christine
' Grier, the adopted child, from Dr.
Graham's Homes. Thank you's
were read from Tracy Crick, Clin-
ton Public Hospital Auxiliary, Rut-
ledge family. Francis Sandy Mis-
sion, Leprosy Mission and the
Children's Aid Society (Christmas
Bureau). Carol Simons personally
thanked everyone for everything
that was done during George's ac-
cident. Bernice thanked everyone
for her mother-in-law's, Beller.
Reid's, poinsettias.
The UCW will he serving a noon
luncheon on Fchruary 24, the same
day as the pancake supper which is
held in the Varna church from 4:30
p,m. to 7:30 p.m. Everyone is wel-
come and the members of the Var-
na Church are reminded 10 stop by
the church after Sunday worship on
Fchruary 22 to set up the tables.
Varna UCW is invited to join the
Goshen UCW for a World Day of
Prayer service Thursday, March 5
at 8p.m.
A donation of $50,•to he used for
groceries, was made by the UC W
to the Youth Weekend (Winter Re-
treat) to he held in the Lambkin
Centre in Forest. Teens andTrends
are reminded to pick up their reg-
istration forms for this weekend,
February 27 28 and• March 1.
There is a cost of $35.
The Varna -Goshen Sunday
School. teaching schedules have
been set, and are posted on the bul-
letin hoards in each church.

Church in Goderich. The speaker
will be Kathy Urhusik Hindlcy.
The London Conference annual
Meeting is May 21-24. Campsite
experience this year is June 8 at
Camp Mencsetung. The Summer
Event is July 18.
Rathwell gave a short devotion
on the theme of love, and read a
story on Valentines Day. Shouka
Stecnbeek gave a short prayer and
received the offering.
The benediction was read and
lunch was served. -
Stan -Lee Club
The Stan -lee Club met at the
Complex on February 3 for a pot
luck dinner with 29 sitting down.
After dinner, Ralph Stephenson,
Bill Pepper, Bill Linlield and Doug
Stephan played sonic toe -tapping
music. - The minutes were read and
adopted. The March 5 meeting
(note the change of date) is to he
held at 1 p.m. at the Heritage
House in Clinton for lunch and
howling at 2:30. Ivan should he
told by March 1 who will attend.
The cost of howling is 2 games for
$4.50, shoes included. -
The time for the April meeting at
Doug Reid's will be announced lat-
er. Shamrock Genetics has an Al
Unit for swine, so Reid will give us
a presentation.
Everyone received a valentine
and also signed one to he sent to .
Jean Mcliwan who' is celebrating
her 90th birthday.

Saintsbury residents attend
weekend wedding in Collingwood

SAINTSBURY - A baby girl,
Tate Elizabeth, was born to Robert
and Lisa Tindall recently.
Grandparents are Bob and Alexia
Tindall, and great-grandmother
Mary Davis.
Hugh and Hazel Davis were
overnight visitors Friday with Bill
and Betty Johnson of Owen Sound.
On Saturday, Hugh and Hazel and
Wayne and Cheryl Carroll of
Saintshury were guests at the wed-
ding of Fred David Brien Dobbs
and Traci -Lynn McKean, held at
First Presbyterian Church in
Collingwood.
Fred is the son of Fred Jr. and
Patricia Dobbs. The Reverend Rob
Luxton, brother-in-law of the
groom assisted at the service.
The Reverend Patricia Dobbs
Luxton, sister of the groom was
bridesmaid, also assisted with
scripture readings. Patricia Dobbs,
mother of the groom, was soloist
for the service singing "The Gift of
Love." Dinner reception and dance
followed at the Leisure Time Club
in Collingwood.
Linda and Lucas Durnin of
Auburn were weekend visitors with
Bob and Heather MacGillivray and
family.
Suzanne Davis, Travis and Starr
were Sunday dinner guests with
Bob and Dorothy Dietrich of
Zurich.
St. Patrick's will celebrate their
evening prayer service on February.
