Christmas was • celebrated with the help of many musical groups. A special thanks to the Christian Reformed Choir, Grand Cove Singers, Granton Rythmnaries, Fellowship . Singers and the Woodham Quartet. Some of the. residents had the opportunity to experience Christmas in Bayfield. Thanks to the generous donation of a bus from Chartcrways many of the residents where able. to get put - to see the beautiful Christmas lights around town. Exeter Villa wishes everyone a - Happy New Year. New Year's Eve afternoon party was a celebration thanks to Doug Insley coming to entertain for the residents. It was a great beginning to 1998. • January's theme is warming up to winter. This past week the residents have enjoyed cruise week, an armchair travelers dream. This week will be dance week. • The residents will be entertained by the Carry on Cloggers and -have some fun with good time polka's and the chicken dance. • The musical talents of -the Notes of Yesteryear, Doug Lewis Band and Kountry Korners have kept the . residents entertianed in January. Eduard and Christian Klassen came to visit the Villa on January 7. They shared their beautiful Christian music with the South American, Folk Harp. A free workshop is being held on January 15 at 2 p.m. on joint replacement at the Villa and everyone is welcome. Staffa WI helps support several community groups Roberta Templeman ,Staffa correspondent - STAFFA - President Kay Seale hosted a business meeting of the Staffa Women's -Institute, at her home on January 7 at 1:30 p.m. with 10 members present. Sheopened the meeting welcom- ing everyone, followed by the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Members answered the roll call by giving a -thought for the New Year. Claudette Elliott has offered to put: a quilt upat her home for Institute members to work on. The - president reminded the group of upcoming -events, a district execu- tive meeting March 4 at the' Kirkton--Woodham 'Community Centre at 9:30 a.m.; a W.I. church service in Sebringvillc the end of April and the District Annual host- ed by St. Paul's Womens Institute on May -12. The group decided to support the a 4-H scholarship; and that all ' members pay 50 cents per meeting to cover the cost of the hall.. Friends are invited to attend the annual potluck supper at the town- ship hall on January 28 at 6:30 p.m. Card games will follow the supper. Members discussed their donation givings and donated to South Hibbert Ball .Park, Crbmarty, Scouts, Cubs and . Beavers, Stratford Hospital Palliative Care and Seaforth Hospital Palliative Care. The February meeting was.. reviewed. Roberta Templeman will -- host it at her home on February 25 with a speaker on Restructuring. Dressed in appropriate -attire - the narrator followed up the reading by her husband,. Harry of the familiar biblical story of Zacchaeus. In Luke's gospel Jesus asked the • wealthy tax collector to come down from the. Sycamore tree and told him: "I must stay at your house today." Van Bergen revealed to her audience what might have been Mrs. Zacchaeus' reluctance to the radical change. in lifestyle that would have taken place in her husband. This, ' according to the. speaker, might have led to her reformation in which she and her husband -gave back to ttie community a generous spirit. Marie Brunzlow announced that a small luncheon and dinner will he catered. to when the moderator visits. Also a- .wedding dinner is hooked for June. The members enjoyed' piano solos as well as a duct by Rebecca and Julie Prout. Mother, Bev joined the girls in singing. Mavis Atthill, Barb Sharpe, Dolores Shapton and Bev Prout presented a short skit -set outside the bathroom door in the morning. Lois Armstrong gave a most interesting monologue on taking time to do what you Want to de for yourself in the new year. Discussions followed on changes in our lives, in our U.C.W. and in the church.
