The Village of Lucan is a proud_ free community imbued with a
spirit of progressiveness. We have dispatched the meagerness of

seize cven•_opportunity the future offers.
THE COMING PEAR'S CHALLENGES AND HOW TO
MEET THEM:
The challenge for Council remains constant: to provide for and
govern the common needs and goals with a minimum of inter-
ference with individual liberty. •
The challenge is rnet -hy reviewing every action of government
to.ensure that action is necessary and that the results is not
undue. Changes m financing and responsibility arising from pro-
vincial fiat offer new Opportunities to scrutinize existing munici-
pal procedures for effccti ;encss,

Point to Ponder -
by Rev. Vernon Dean -
Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle
ugene Peterson. in his.contemporary language ver-
sion of the Bihie, writes the following as an intro--
duction
ntro- 'duction to the book of James:
When Christian believers gather in churches. everything that
can go wrong sooner or later -does. Outsiders. on observing
this, conclude that there is nothing tothereligion business.ex-
cept, perhaps. business - dishonest business at that. Insiders
see it differently. Just as a hospital collects the sick under one -
roof and labels them as such; the church collects sinners.
Many of the people outside the hospital are every bit as sick
as the ones inside. hut their illnesses are either undiagnosed or
disguised. it's similar with sinners outside the church.
So Christian churches are not. as a rule, model
communities of good behaviour. They- are. rather.
places where hurnan'misbehaviour is brought out
in the open, faced, and dealt with. ' -
Are you in or out of the hospital?:. -
