Irish pull even with Hawks
By Craig Bradford
T -A Reporter
LAMBETH — A 5-2 road win over Lambeth on Sunday has the
Lucan Jr. D Irish hockey team sitting atop the Morenr. Division
standings in a tie with the Exeter Hawks.
Scoring for Lucan were Gary Hudson (2), Scott Wheatley, Neal
Costello and George Stephens. Assists went ft> Bob Grant, Mike
Rohl, Jeremy Hudson (2). Wheatley and Gary Hudson.
Irish co -coach Bill Bourne said each player put in a solid de-
fensive effort and goaltender Mark Williams played his best game of
the season so far.
Bourne said Wheatley did a line job tilling in for the injured Ke-
vin Dunbar (smashed finger) on the powerhouse Hudson line that
features Gary Hudson and Jeremy Hudson. Dunbar is expected to be
hack in the line-up for this week's games.
The Irish didn't fare as well at Seaforth ort Saturday with a 7-5
loss. Bourne said his team simply didn't show up to play.
"We weren't prepared in the first period." he said. "I take full re-
sponsibility for that."
The team was also short-handed on defence with some players not
available for the game. Lucan goals were scored by Ben Dobbie,
Ryan Carroll, Daryl Boshart, Rohh and Dan Hardick. Assists were
notched by Greg Henderson (2), Chad Green-
lee (3); Jeremy Lamhourn, Costello, Jason
Amey (2) and Rohh. -
The Irish started the week with a 3-2 win in
Parkhill over North Middlesex on Dec. 30. Lu -
carr goals were scored by Dunbar, Mark Phil-
lips and Lambourn with assists going to Jer-
emy Hudson (2), Dunhar, Stephens and Rohh.
"I thought the score flattered North Middlesex," Bourne said. "We
had a pretty good game."
Lucan threw I I' more shots at the North Middlesex goaltcnder
while Irish goalie Mike Boyce faced 22 shits. Bourne said his team
had -many" missed opportunities around thc.North Middlesex net and
that their goalie kept them in the game. The Hudson line had another
dominant game. Bourne said, hut were limited to one goal. -
Though both have 38 points, Exeter gets the nod for first officially
with more wins with an I8-11-1-1 record (wins, losses: ties, over-
time losses) compared with Lucan's 17-9-2-2.
Lucan hosts the league leading Port Stanley Lakers tomorrow and
travel to Mount Brydges on Saturday, both 8:15 p.m. starts.
`'We have some lig games in January," Bourne. said, including
tour point tilts versus Mitchell and Exeter and two games versus
Pon Stanley.
"We have

LUCAN — Both the Exeter Jr.
D Hawks and the Lucan Irish
have named their representatives
for the annual all-star tilt.
The league asked Exeter to
send two forwards and Hawks
coach/G.M. will send Jeff Camp-
bell and Chris McDonald for the
game slated for Jan.'I7, 7:30
p.m. at Lucan Arena.
Revington said he usually
chooses younger members of his
team to go to the annual all-star
game because his four older reg-
ular forwards have already ap-
peared in past Jr. D all-star
games.
"It's a good opportunity for
Campbell to get some exposure,"
Revington said. "He deserves it."
Irish co -coach Bill Bourne said
they will send three pryers to the
game: defenceman Jererly Lambourn, forward
Mark Phillips and gbaltender Mike Boyce. The
league asked the Irish for a defender and offence -
man and Boyce gets the nod due to his league low
goals against average. Lambourn and Phillips were
chosen in a player vote.
"It was a pretty close vote," Bourne said.
