Horticultural Society - With the cooperation of, the weather a good crowd turned out for the first annual Hensall and Dis- triet . Horticultural Society Garden Walk. The event "Summer's First Blooming". offered the chance to tour eleven area gardens. and to at, tend an old --fashioned garden party. The patty offered the. •crowd a chance to win many . great prizes donated by arca merchants. An- other feature of the party was the award for hest men's and women's garden • hats. , Many unique hats were worn that day and the judges had a difficult time deciding the :winners. The winners were Bill Rowcliffc and. Dorothy Elder. •The prizes were two charming birdhous- es that were donated by Ed Burke. We had our noon meal in the barn where- they put on their program. Father Gary played the drums, Mother Shirley sang and played pass guitar, their son Brill, /played the guitar and sang,. their daughter Kimberley played • •the accordion and sang, their youngest son Darren/ played 10 different instruments and sang. Grandpa George who is 86 played the violin. Gerald, Lee and Shirley also put on a ci)nccrt which was really good.
