Father and son found sweet
relief during flood project
Sid and Jim Ramer helped clean up the mess left behind by the Manitoba
flood and brought home some. unforgettable memories.

Sid; a 76 -year-old retired "jack of
all .trades." said he has been keen
on helping others in need ever since
his dad died when he was eight.
"With me it'sin the, blood."y he
said. Sid has''alsoi completed two

flood -relief projects

also helped victims of

The experience is something Jim
said he will never forget.
"You can usually visualize

the disaster, Sid will . always , re-
member running into a man he.

But the most lasting memories
from the project will be the w•cl-
coming`faccs of the heals they en-
countered.
'They were very friendly people
and very appreciative of what, we
were doing." Jim said.
Sid agreed. .
• 'Some of the people 1 met
couldn't figure out other people
giving their money and time to help
out. he said.
Although the sponsors paid for'
lodgings and food. project workers
had 'to provide their. own trans-
portation and Jim used up his sum-
mer holidays on the helpful trip.
• And the two didn't hesitate when
asked if they'd do it all over again..
' "As a matter of fact. I've put. my
name in if they need another
group," Sid said.
