she led the Exeter -women's soccer team to its first win of
the season last Tuesday,

wins first game of season
LONDON -. Exeter captured their
first win of the season on Tuesday
when they beat Corringa Bell Cana-
da: 5-0 in'London.
Exeter opened the scoring early
in the game when the Corringa Bell
Canada defence tailed to clear a
goal kick and Cindy Wore took
advantage and shot the hall in-11ic
net! heating the goalie. -
Ahout halfway through the first
hal1..Exeter got, On the hoard again
on a Corner kick from Moore which
was Curling towards - the- net. and
Heather Davies -got a foot on it to
ensure the goal. giving -Exeter the
2:0 lead.
•Late in .the first half, on a nice
chip pass from Kim Farquhar al-
lowed 'Peed Farquhar+ to heat the
(telefax and blast a shot -past the
goalie.
Exeter held on to their 13-0 lead
for quite •sonic. time in tliF second
half, when Helen 'i;heophilopoulos
gave a perfectly placed -through hall.

lose to Lakeside
EXETER - The Exeter Express couldn't hold onto a three -run
lead after the fourth inning losing 6-3 to Lakeside on.Friday,
Two lost halls plus an error led to three Lakeside runs in the fifth
and•three'tnore runs in the seventh resulted after a'missed pop up.
Scot Russell almost went the distance pitching six and one-third
innings striking out three batters and walking four. :
The 16 hits he allowed couldn't he handled defensively resulting
in five unearned runs for Lakeside. Boon took over far the re-• -
mainder of the game striking out one batter and allowing one run off
three hits. • -
Last Tuesday Exeter continued the game they postponed on May
21 agajnst Strathroy but lost 7-4 after allowing four runs in the
eighth inning. -
Exeter scored one in the ninth hut failed to tic things -up when they
stranded runners on all three bases: Dan Masse pitched for Exeter
giving up four hits •including a.three-ruirhome run. .
Masse.continued to pitch in the second game striking out four hat-
• . ters: Mike McCabe hurled the sixth striking striking out a pair and
allowing two runs.
The Express won -the contest 6-4 after scoring two runs in the first
• inning off one hit from John Fountain. Thc.tcanrrounded out the
scoring with hits from Glover, Rick Boon and Steve Farquhar. .
The Express hosted London,on Tuesday' night, however. results
werc'not available by press time. They travel to Strathroy today -
(Wednesday) for the rubber match.
