players helped the Mid -Elgin Tyke
Select hockey team win the Inter-
national Showcase Hockey Tour-
nament held in Toronto last week-

Greg Noyes from Lucan, Logan
Couture from Birr and Mike Ryan
from Hd4rton contributed a total of
37 points in the tournament as their
team waltzed through all 'five
games undefeated, outscoring the
opposition by a combined score of
43-1.
"Strong defensive play by the en-
tire team limited opposition -scor-
ing chance. s," said coach/manager
Chet Couture who credited goal -
tender David McDonald with post-
ing tour shutout; and had a 0.20
goals against ;n erage for the tour-
nament..

hosts when an Embro player picked

the Fury be/lind early. Exeter man-
aged Io regroup quickly moving the
hall upfield t(i their strikers who
hod a. number of good scoring
chances.

score tied but McAllister gave the
Fury the lead for good as he raced

The teams -were locked in a see-
saw battle for most of the second
half until a Courtland player was
the first to a loose hall in the goal
area and he scored with ten minutes
to play. Things looked bleak for the
Fury but they went all out for the
tic.
McAllister had a breakaway but
the goalie got a piece .of the ball de -

midget boys fastball team extended
its undefeated streak to three
games after picking up a pair of
wins recently beating Varna 33-3
last Tuesday and Tavistock 10-5
the week before.
Doug Rimmer hurled for five in-
nings in last week's contest against
Varna striking out 14 batters while
only giving up one run off two'
hits.
Relief pitcher Cam Dougall
stepped in for the last inning strik-
ing out three batters before walk-
ing two and allowing two runs off
two hits.
Geoff Mayer was the big hitter
for Exeter belting four triples plus
one ground rule double. Bryajtry
Hayman had four hits and a home
run.
