EXETER -- Exeter and area seniors are an
active part of -the community and throughout
- the month of June, we will thank them for their
contributions by celebrating Senior' Month. -
Recently, Cam Jackson, Ontario ,minister
. responsible- for seniors; launched Seniors'
Month. He encouraged all Ontarians to use
this as an opportunity to recognize the
contributions of our eldersi_ to reflect on policies •
we are implementing. on behalf of -seniors, to
consider the challenges that come with an
aging society and to make. themselves more
aware of issues that affect the elderly.
"Many of our seniors fought wars to save;our'
freedom. They have built our roads, taught in
our schools, produced the food on our tables -
Ontario is moire prosperous and our society far
wiser for having been enriched by their lifetime
contributionst,'w; Jackson told a group of,seniors!

continue modernizing and strengthening the
health care system, working to build safer r
communities, and reinvesting.in the
community -base and long-term. care services:
Week one of Seniors' Moiith has been
designated Intergenerational Week, to be
followed by ,Caregivers' Week and Prevention
Of Elder Abuse Week. On June 24, 20
outstanding seniors will be recognized at the
Ontario Senior Achievement Awards.
• Locally, more than 25 seniors, who .were
winners of the Exeter Seniors Games held in.
May will go on to compete in the Tri -County
