She, returned to South Huron Hos- pital and will soon be home. Marjo- .rie McLean -has broken her hip. The Humanitarian Committee sent $500 to the Manitoba Flood Relief thrt/ugh the Agricultural So- ciety where the , donation is matched by the government. The group received invitations from Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, • Brussels for their Friendly Night September 23 and from Ruth Rebe- kah Lodge. Stratford for their Friendship Night September 16 be- ginning.with a potluck meal at 6:30• p.m. They 'asked their Outside Guardian to take part in . the open- ing ceremonies. Keyes. will take them with her when she returns: Police investigate collision HURON COUNTY- Police are investigating a motor vehicle acci- dent that occurred on lune 6 at 3:45 p.m. on Huron County Road 31 at the intersection of the Black Hole Sideroad. A 1991 Chevrolet Astro van. driven by Robert Lovell, was west- bound on the sideroad, when it failed to yield at the intersection to a 1990 Mercury car driven by Brad-'. ley Hoogenboom, who was north- bound on County Road 31. Eighteen -year-old Hoogenboom was taken to Goderich Hospital and later released with minor injuries. Lovell, 49, was transported to Vic- toria Hospital in London with seri- ous injuries. Times: Advocate, .June 11, 1997 Page 11 Caution urged during spring rush GUELPH - The Farm Safety As- sociation is urging farmers to use caution during the compressed planting season this year. Cold, wet weather has caused about a three week delay in planting for many ar- eas of the province. Farmers who have been able to start in some are- as are working around the clock. The Association warns that fatigue can lead to potential accidents. Farmers are reminded to take suf- ficient breaks and rest periods- to operate equipment safely. Equip- ment moving from farm to farm on the roadway should have properly positioned slow moving vehicle signs and proper lighting and escort vehicles for night. travel. New laws regarding the use of the slow mov- ing vehicle sign have recently come into effect. For details, contact the Farm Safety Association Offices in Guelph: • Equipment that becomes bogged down in wet or muddy fields should be towed out using a towing vehicle heavier than the stuck vehi- cle. The towing tractor should have a rollover protective structure and the operator .should he wearing a seatbelt. The towing vehicle should have - the chain hitched no higher than the drawbar.
