Torch run Thames Road-Elimville preparing
for annual strawberry supper
The supper is
planned for June 16 at
Thames Road Church.

THAMES ROAD - Approximate-
. ly 80 people attended a church ser-
vice on Sunday morning at Thames
Road Church. Rev. Jock Tolmay
was in charge of the service.
The •choir sang two numbers,
"Nothing is Impossible" and "One
'More Step Along the Way" accom-
panied by pianist Marjorie Johns.
The title of Rev. Jock's sermon' was
"God's Way and Our Way."
Shirley Kerslake and Judith'Park-
er were the greeters as well as re-
: ceiving the offering.
Rev. Jock gave the Commission-
ing and the Benediction.
• The church service will be held at
Elimville at 9:45 a.m. next Sunday.
The first combined U.C.W. meet-
ing will be held at Elimville
Church at 8 p.m. on June 10.
On June 1I the Standing Com-
mittee will meet at 7 p.m. and the
Council will meet .at 8 p.m. at
Thames Road Church.
Woodham United Church is
planning a chicken barbecue on
June 11 -at the Kirkton-Woodham
Community Centre from 5 to 7:30
p.m. Adults $10, children -(12 and
under) $5. Tickets at the door:
Takeouts available. .
Thames' Road-Elimville Straw-
berry Supper will be held June 16.
The meal wilt cost $8 for adults,
$3.50 for children six to. 12 and
preschool are, free. .
On June 22 the Sunday School
children are askedto bring a lunch
-and stay for practice.
. Sunday School Celebration Sun-
day will be held June 29 with the
theme "Welcome to the Family".
The Sunday School will be leading
the congregation • for this service.
Special guests will be "All Four
Christ Youth Ministry". Everyone
is invited• to a potluck picnic after
the service. Drinks will be provid-
ed. After lunch the group will go to
Thames Road Ball Park for a base-
ball game and other games. Casual
dress and a lawn chair are suggest-
ed. -
Get well wishes are extended to
Ina John who has been a patient in
South Huron - Hospital for some
time.
Amber and Carson Cooper of
Elimville arc -slaying with their un-
cle and aunt Robert and Kathy
Bray and girls for a few days. .
Bill and Rhoda Rohde called at
the Sass Funeral Home, St. Marys
on Sunday afternoon where they ,
paid their respect to the late Hilda
Sinith (Rundle). who passed away
on Friday.'

Local OPP officers got the chance to break in' their running shoes at -the 11th Annual Law
Enforcement Torch Run For Special Olympics on Friday. Last year the event raised $12,000
locally and $1.4 million Provincially. From left, George Finch, Joanna Van Mierlo, Karie Rob-

the recipient of the Challenge' tro-
phy. Sien Smits was runner-up and

Queensway news
HENSALL - Throughout the
week, Queensway residents played -
ganmcs•and sung songs at Fun .and
Fitness. 'Monday afternoon. the •
Cnristiart Reform Ladies enter-
tained the residents. Rev. Thomp-
s(n of the Zurich Lutheran Church
came to worship with Queensway:
Hymns were sang with Phyllis
Desjardinc accompanying on the
piano. Thursdayafternoon movie
was Wain Disney's. Beauty and the
Beast:
Quecnsway residents had the
honor of meeting Helen Johns,
M.P.P. on Friday afternoon. As part •
of Seniors Month, Johns had aftcr-
noon tea with residents and remi-
nisced about Huron County.
Queensway residents would like to
thank everyone who made this past
week an enjoyable and remembera-
hle one.
