Senior science students at South Huron District High School presented local elementary
students with a number of displays during Science Quest on May 30. Angela Higgs and -Jer-
ry Ziler teach a group ofstudents about the importance of catapults in Medieval times. The
students designed and constructed their own catapults. The "Earthworm" display in the
background used computer simulations, real worms and a mealworm cake to help explain
the ecological and economic importance of worms.

tralia U.C.W. incl at the church on
June 5 for a potluck dinner. The
committee in charge, • Iva Blair,
Madalcnc Tasko, Adeline Elliott,
Marian Abbott, Gladys Buswell,
and Etta Powe provided dessert.

Heather Scott led a' singsong, ac-
companied by Marjorie Johns on
the piano. . -
Iva Blair directed everyone in a
game of "Taboo" and . Phyllis
Tomes, Florence Hodgins and
Mary Lou Bcckei were the winning.

which were won by Madalene Tas-
ko and Heather Scott. Plants were
won by. June Essery for the nearest
,birthday, Donna Smith for the clos-

Manitoba flood aid

Faith Tabernacle celebrated as two
babies were dedicated to the Lord
during the morning worship service
on June 8; Following thc edening
service, a time of fellowship was
held in honor of Al and Madeline
Harvey's 40th wedding anniver-
sary.
On June 14',the men. of the
church will travel to Copps Coli-
seum in Hamilton to attend a Prom-
ise Keepers Men's Rally early in
thc morning. Also on June 14, the
Y.F.C.. chicken barl•^cue will be
held. in Zurich at Gascho Park at 7
p.m.'
Everyone's invited to the morn
ing•worship service on. June 15 to
hear special guest Eric Sholtz min-
ister in music on his Trumpet.
Beginning June 17, a men's bible.
study will be held on Tuesday eve-
ning at 7:30 p.m. at. Centralia Faith
Tabernacle. All men arc invited to

Friendship
Club holds
picnic
BRYANSTON - The Bryanston
Friendship Club met June 4 at the
farm of Elliott and Audrey McRo-
berts for a 12:30 p:m: picnic dinner.
There were 32 members and three
guests present. Lucky chair was
won by Helen Banting. A short
business meeting was opened with
the singing of '0 Canada'.
The birthday song was sung to
Greta•Gihson, Frances Mardlin and
Evelyn Roberts. Anniversary wish-
es were wished to Edith and. Gor-
don Eaton in song and card. The
secretary and treasurer's reports
were . ' given. Beth .. Buchanan
brought her plaque of Senior.of the
Year Award to show the group and
she thanked everyone for cards" and
gifts for her 80th birthday.
The group will meet at the church
at 1:30 p.m: for their September
meeting. The program will be
"Sing, Say or Pay" and this will be
followed by a barbecue supper. The
secretary wilt look after the meats,
rolls and relishes and members arc
to bring either a'salad or dessert.

Eaton had an afternoon of enter-
tainment. Edith -read a poem "Fa-
thers are Wonderful People". Mar-
jorie Hodgert, Marg and Arnold
DeLong entertained with many
songs. Frances Mardlin won a con-
test guessing the number of beans
in a jar. The oldest -father was Carl
Banting, the youngest father was
Arnold DeLong and -the person
with the closest birthday to Father's
Day was Elgin Rintoul.
