CENTRALIA - Centralia Sunday
School Anniversary Service and
potluck luncheon on Jtine 1 was a
time of celebrati6n. The children
and Sunday School teachers en-
tered the church in a procession
during the hymn "The Family of
God."
Dan- Caslick read the Prayer of
Approach. The children, assisted by
the choir and accompanied by Mar-
• jorie Johns, sang several anthems.
Brent Caslick presented the chil-
dren with certificates for their par-
ticipation in. the Sunday School
throughout the year, and thanked
the teachers, parents and children
for their support.
The Sunday School teachers as-
sisted with readings and prayer.
Guest speaker Judy Mills helped il-
lustrate the parables told by Jesus
about the Wise man and the foolish
man and the good Samaritan: Kurt

passed the Exeter Villa in a hurry.
With all it's grey and rainy days,
the sunshine was out at the Villa •
with the music and fellowship. The
"Kountry Korners" brought cele-
brating sounds to the salute to
Mother's Day. As well great people
like the Notes of Yesteryear, Doug
Lewis Band, Fellowship Singers..
and Max Ducharme and,The Town -
liners all filled the home with a
melody of sounds.
May was also a time to give
thanks to care givers. The hard
working men and women who take
care of all the residents needs.
Thanks care givers!
Outings also kept many of the
residents busy this 'month. They
bustled off to Bayfield; were to a
Victorian Tea in St. Joseph; fire-
works in Crediton and a picnic in
the park.
The birthday party in May was
held in the evening with music by
The Satchels Orchestra.
The month ended with mellowing
sounds of the Grand Bend United
Church Choir and Murray Christie
and Mary F. Dow. Thanks to all
who helped make May beafahle.
Millis and Brian Pat demonstrated
thei acting abilities during the play
about the good/Samaritan.
Following worship, everyone en-
joyed fellowship during ,a potluck
luncheon organized by the Sunday
School. Donna Smith decorated the
.church with flowers.
• On May 31, some residents of
-the Centralia area participated in
the March for Jesus held in Exeter.
On June 8, regular worship will
be held, at Centralia and Zion West
United Churches.
Centralia U.C:W. will hold their
next meeting on June 5 at 6 p.m. at
the church. Members are asked to
bring a dish to share during the
main course of the potluck dinner
and dessert will be provided.
Zion U.C.W. will meet at 8 p.m.
on June 5. Andrea Hern will show
her photograph books "Creative
Memories". • •
On June 7, volunteers are invited
to assist with the "Good Sam" pro-
gram at Centralia United Church.
Also during the weekends of
June 7 and 8 and 14 and 15, volun-
teers will go to Manitoba to assist
with flood cleanup. Centralia Unit-

church have signup sheets on their
/ church bulletin. boards. There are
also permission forms for youth
who wish to participate.
Anyone wishing 'to contribute
household items - such as cleaning
supplies, toilet paper, paper towels,
toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. can
bring them to Centralia United
Church before. June 15. They will
be given' to the Salvation Army to
take to distribute to people in Man-
itoba. ,
The Sacrament of Communion
will be celebrated at Zion West and
Centralia United Churches on June
15.
Zion West Sunday School'Anni-
. versary and church picnic will be
held June 22. Rev. Roger
McCombe will be the guest speak-
er. Centralia is invited to partici-
pate in this joint worship and pic-
nic potluck lunch.
Euchre results
At Heywood's Restaurant recent-
ly, Percy. Noels and Helen Mac-
Donald were High Hand winners,
while the Special was won by
Andy Thompson. Lone Hand win-
ners were Bernice Squires and Har-
ry Noels.

ZURICH - A computer activity
camp is planned for children four to
14 years of age, at the Zurich Pub-
lic School in July for five days. For
more information and to register,
phone 236-4942. The cost is $90
per person.
The annual meeting of the Blue
Water Rest Home will be held on
June 10 in the auditorium at _7:30
p.m. Lunch will be served by mem-
bers of the Ladies Auxiliary. -
There will be a bus trip. to the
Martyr's Shrine in Midland on June
22. It will leave Stratford Arena at
7:30 a.m. and will arrive back there
at 8 p.m. The cost is $25 for adults.
Bring your own lunch. There will
be an outdoor Mass at the Pope's
Altar. Phone Mary Jacobs for more
information at 236-4826.
The next meeting of the Lions
Club will be "Ladies Nightt' at,fhe
Dominion Tavern on June 11 at 7
p.m. Louis Willert is president of
the club. '
Studentsand teachers of St. Boni-
uface School went to "The }Wizard
of Oz" at the Huron CountryPlay-
house last Tuesday.
+ Twelve boys of_the Zurich 1st
Cubs Pack went camping at Ben-
miller from Friday to Sunday.. They
were accompanied by leaders Lee
Desjardine and Adrianna DeBont
and cooks Sandra Desjardine and
Sharon Miller. Two boys and two
leaders. of the Bayfield Cub Pack
also joined them. The theme was
Prehistoric times and the boys
made wooden spoons and things
forthe campout. They; made a huge
paper mache dinosaur, seven feet
high and 10 feet, long for their mas-
'cot. , They slept in tents, cooked'out-
doors on campfires and Went on
hikes. The Zurich group won the
Huron -Perth Camporee trophy for
the second time. They have a new-
ly built trailer with a barbecue,
cupboards and a three burner stove.
It will be on display at the Zurich
Fair and in the parade.
The next meeting of the Agricul-
tural Society will be held on June
19 at 8:15 p.m. at the Hay Town-
ship Hall. •
A Mass of Thanksgiving for Mo-
zart and Marie Gelinas Sr. for their
45th anniversary took place at St.
Boniface Church on Sunday con-
ducted by .Fr. Wronski. Several
family members took part and there
was special music by the choir.
The Hensall Fair is planned for
June .13 and 14 with the theme
"Farm Family".
Recent local winners of $25 from
the. H.T.A. Lottery Calendars are
Clarence Rau, Sue Jeffrey, Marie;
Gelinas, Mike Ryckman. Prizes of
swimming at Magnolia Manor,
Varna (value $30) was won ,by
Gary Kyle, Hensall and. Kim Tay-
lor of Hensall. Josef and Martha
-Risi, Zurich won an hour of horse-
back riding at Whipple Tree Recre-
ational Camp, RR 2 Grand Bend
(value $32).• -
Students at .the Zurich Public
School held their. track and field
day last Tuesday. ,

The Rau family went on their an-
nual fishing trip last .Thursday to
Sunday at Restoul Lake. They
didn't catch anything but shad a
good time together. r

Rose and Dale Erb and their -chil-
dren Nickalas and Christina along
with Rose's brother Bill Struyke of
London, have spent the last week
fishing in the Grand Bend salmon
and trout derby! Although they
caught several fish, ; none were
large enough to be on the prize
board. The awards ceremony will
be held June 21 at the Grand Bend
Legion.

lissa •Dickers (nee VanBelle) who
were married on May 31 at the
United Church in Zurich by Gani
Lazaro. A dinner and reception
were held at the Zurich Communi-
ty Centre.
Gary and Anna Geoffrey, Wind-
sor, spent Saturday and Sunday vis-
iting with his parents Clarence and
Beattie Geoffrey and celebrated
Gary's birthday. Beattie is able to
come home for the weekends from
Huronview.

Two brother -in-laws of Sadi and
Ted Klopp spent the past two
weeks .visiting from Glasgow,
Scotland. They .also visited Brian
and Willie Kilpatrick in St. Cathe-
tines.
Farewell to Dr.' Michael Hurley,
who will be away . sailing for the.
summer months. He will be back in
the office in October. .Welcome
back to Dr. Charles Wallace and
nurse, practitioner Mrs: Visscher
who will be working from their
Bayfield office. -

VARNA - The Stan Lee Club will meet June 4 at
6:30 p.m. for supper at Millingtons in Brucefield.
This will be the final meeting until September. •
The Varna U.C.W. will meet June 5 at 7:15 p.m. in
the Varna Church instead of 8 p.m.

Camp Menesetung have a wish list consisting of
balloons, ice cream pails, construction paper, silk or
' dried flowers, glue sticks., door mats, night fights,
umbrellas, blankets, sticky fly papers, sponges, em-
broidery floss, rubber gloves, lace, ribbon, flannelette
sheets and towel racks. Please contact Carol Simons
if you have any of these items to donate.
On June 1 Andrew Ross spoke in absence of Tracy/
Crick at the Varna Church! He spoke on his mission-
ary work with the Bluefields project in Nicaragua,
building the roof for the school house. Many things
are done the same way in their churches as they are
in our churches. He also presented a story w the chil-
dren. - -
Note this change - church will be held in Goshen-'
on June 8 and in Varna on June 15. •
The Session will meet.at 7 p.m. on June 9 instead
of June 2 at the Varna Church. The Official Board
will meet June 9 at 8 p.m. All stewards, session

The Five 'Alive committee are presenting Light 'n'
Lively Variety Fair on June 8 at 3:30 p.m. in the Var-
na United Church with Live Family Entertainment.
This includes the Seaforth Marching Band, local
fingers and dancers and clowns. Hotdogs, drinks and
desserts will be available with proceeds going to
youth . groups and church camps. Bring lawnchairs
and in case of inclement weather it will be held at
Huron Centennial School.
All Trends and Teens interested in going to Cana-
da's Wonderland on. June 7 should speak to Tracy
Crick as soon as possible to sign up. •
On June 8 at 2 p.m. there will be decoration Sunday
at Baird's.Cemetery. ,
The Stanley Township Rec Committee had a very
successful Truck elimination draw on Saturday eve-
ning. The first ticket drawn and every fiftieth ticket
drawn were winners of $100. The first ticket out was
Paul Aldwinckle4 fiftieth ticket Paul Stephenson, one
hundredth ticket Jack Coleman, one hundred and fif-
tieth Lena Koene, two hundredth Charles Guest two
hundred and fiftieth Bill and Eleanor McAsh, three
hundredth ticket Allan Taylor, three hundred and fif-
tieth ticket Kalen Harris, four hundredth ticket Ange
Jervis and Cherry Gerrits. -
The 447th ticket for $500 went to Dan Morgan; the
448th ticket for $1000 went to Barry and Mavis Go -
vier; the'449th ticket for $1500 went to Alex Town-
send and the winner of the truck was Claude Poirer,
son-in-law of Sandra and David Turner.
Rick Passmore of Lucknow was the singing D.J.
for the evening. .
