EXETER - The Exeter midget
baseball team dropped a close on -
run game on Sunday losing 6-5 to
Clinton. •
After taking a 5-2 lead. Exeter al-
lowed two runs in the sixth and two
more in seventh inning to as Clin-
ton pulled out a spoiled -sport -
Come -from -behind -win.
Bret Stewardson pitched for five
innings striking out Live hatters,
walking six, white allowing four
runs off three hits. Paul Gregus
stepped in to relieve him and
pitched two innings striking out
three hatters. walking three while
allowing two runs off three hits.
Gregus was also potent behind
the hat as he reached Kase all four
times up at hat and Stewardson also
went two for three including a -
walk. a.douhle and two RBI's.
The Toss was a tough pill to swal-
low for Exeter which stranded two
runners in the bottom of the sev-
enth. With two outs and the tieing -
run on second base and the winning
run on first. Stewardson stepped up
to the plate to drive them home but
he singled to right field. The throw
to the plate gunned down the tieing
run as Clinton preserved the lead.
Team manager Dennis Kints said
'the team had a difficult time field-
ing nine players and unless they
can add more -bodies to the roster
the team will be forced to fold;
The loss brings the teams record
to one win and three tosses.
