Juniors score
28 runs in
two days
LONDON - The Exeter co-op
Juniors won their second league
game defeating the London Eager
Beavers.14-3 on Tuesday.
Darryl Hartman pitched seven
complete innings and looked like
he could go the distance before
Dwayne McNab relieved him for
the last two innings.
•The bats continue to work for Ex-
eter as Bill Hodge hit three singles
out of his four turns at bat. Jamie
Rolph hit a single and a stand-up
triple, Jason Maskell had a double
and Dwight-Gingerich chipped off
three singles.
Known more for it's defensive
capabilities, Exeter has started the
1997 season with an offensive ex-
plosion recording 28 runs in it's
-last two games.
The Co-op Juniors will host St.
Marys on Thursday, but they may
have a hard time extending the win-
ning streak to three. Exeter edged
them by one run in the season
opener and St. Marys, no doubt,
will be looking for some pay -back.
Game time is 6:30 p.m.
Exeter racers rule the track
Ron Rader does a smoke show before a race in Saturday's elimination round at Grand Bend
Motorplex. Ron was the only•Exeter driver who didn't place- in the top three of his class in a
day of racing dominated by Exeter entries. His wife Shirley placed first in the Trophy Stock
class. Other Exeter racers who won their class were: Peter Vander Burgt who- won first
place in the Super -Pro class, - Peter Hrydka won the Pro class with Mark Brand placing sec-
ond and. Randy Bilcke finishing ,n -the iluarter finals. Steve Roy was first in Super -Stock.
Chris Haugh won the Asphalt Sled race and his sister Teresa from. Hensall madeit. to the
semi-finals in her class before red lighting off the starting line.
Fury win first game of season
INGERSOLL - The Exeter Fury notched their first
win of the season Saturday 1-0 in a tightly played
match in Ingersoll
Exeter took the lead early in the game when..[
throw by Khampanc Chansamone was redirected to
front of the net by Jason McFaIIs, Tom Westerveld.
charging hard to the goal, was there to finish the play.
for the only goal of the game. • • -
Exeter controlled the first half, using thc wind to
their advantage and managed a few excellent scoring
chances hut were unahfc to add to the lead. (;oaltcnd-
er Ryan Hern made some excellent saves that kept
thc Fury ahead and his steady play earned him the
shutout. ,
Playing against the wind in the second half. Exeter
had to play strung defensively as Ingersoll pinned the
Fury in their own end for long stretches of play
Defenders Chansainonc, Justin O'Rourke. Souban
Inlakahana and Matt Sims turned away the Ingersoll
attackers time after time, preventing the forwrds from
getting any clear shots on net.
