Plant auction a big success
• HENSALL - A'Spring Plant Atic--
tion. held May 12 at the Fellowship -
Hall of the Hensall United Church
was a huge success. announced
president Syhillc Schindler. There
was a turnout of 38 members and .
guests to hid. There were. tulip
bulbs; rut tulips. daffodils; narcissi,
-hostas, a climbing hydrangea, ever-
greens .complete. with- delivery by
.tractor if you lived in town. and -a
couple Ail vouchers fqr red wigglers
for indoor composting.
Brad Mousseau was the. auction-
eer. They raised close to i$300 to
'put toward a raised perennial bed.
They have purchased daylilics and
have been, offered irises and some
peonies. • Thcy are still looking for
hostas. specifically some medium
.sired variegated varieties,. as well
as largeblue ones. If you have a
special daylily-'that could do with
dividing, please call 236-7529,

within another couple of weeks due
to the donation of wood from the'
Hensall District Co-op, and other
offers of help. •

GRAND BEND - This will be a
chance to view colorful birds as '•
they journey to their breeding
grounds. On the weekend' of May
24 and 25. sec returning spring mi-
grants as they move north along the
east shore of Lake Huron. Banders
Martin Wernaart and David Brewer
from the Ontario Bird Banding -As-
sociation will be catching, balding
and releasing birds. providing park
visitors with a chance to see bads
in the hand.- Morning bird hikes
with park naturalists will be offered
along with a special evening slide
presentation. Reservations for
camping can be made at (519) 243-

programs call (519) 243-8545. Pin-
ery Provincial Park is located on
Hwy. 21 south of Grand Bend.

access to the Internet as a learning
