Tea and bazaar a big success at
Blue Water Rest Home

ZURICH - The Zurich cubs will
be having their last meeting• for the
season on May 1.3 at the Public
School. They worked on making •a
"Stone Age Mess Kit". to have
ready for • their up coming Cub
Camp. weekend at - Ben Miller
Camp Grounds from May 23 - 25.
The theme is Prehistoric Times.
. The Knights of Columbus of St
Boniface. Parish (along with a little
help from their wives) held their
annual Pancake Breakfast in' the
Parish Hall after -the first mass on
Mother's Day.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Blue
Water Rest Home held their last
meeting on May 6 with 27 mem-
bers attending. A hand carved team
of 50 Clydesdale Horses, by Lloyd.
• Otterbein was displayed. The presi-
dent.•Martha_Risi welcomed every-
one. Corsages were to be pinned on
the ladies for Mothers' Day.
Aprons were brought in for the
Tuck Shop to sell.
A report was presented on the re-
cent Region #3 Meeting held at the
home, which was attended by -about.
50 ladies from various rest home
auxiliaries. • •
Members were asked to help
serve refreshments and do the
dishes after presentations by musi-
cal groups who come to entertain
the residents at various times. Also,
•the group was asked to serve at the
annual general meeting on June 10:

will be voted on by the stu-
dents on Thursday after cam-
. paign speeches. The resuTls of
the election will be broadcast
at the dance tomorrow night.

will be appointed to students.

24, OSAID students and South
Huron District High School
will be recognizing their Drug
Awareness Week. Tuesday.

Davis hurt in bike accident
Harley Davis suffered
a broken leg and
shoulder last week.

SAINTSBURY - Prayers and get
well wishes go to Harley Davis af-
ter an accident with his bike on
Wednesday evening on his moto
cross practice track at the Davis's.
He returned home from Sick Chil-
dren's Hospital on Saturday follow-
ing an operation for a broken leg
and shoulder and lots of bruises.
St. Patrick's celebrated on Satur-
day evening at 6:30 p.m. with an
evening prayer service honoring
mothers, led by the men and boys
of the congregation. They celebrat-
ed Mother's Day and Christian
Family Weekend.
Bob MacGillivray led the service
from the Book of Alternative Ser-
vices.
Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray gave
a children's focus entitled "Woven
Together in the Spirit of Jesus".
She took the place for cousin Har-
ley Davis who was unable to be
there. She closed with a prayer re-
membering .Harley and great-
grandmother Mary Davis.
The men and boys choir sang "In
My Heart There Rings a Melody."
Caleb MacGillivray led the read-
ing of the Psalm and Corbin Mac-
Gillivray read from the New Testa-
ment. Hugh Davis read the Holy
Gospel.
Bob MacGillivray gave a mes-
sage based on the reading "Called
to Be Faithful."
Travis Davis and Cody Kelley
presented the offering.
On May 18, The Rev. Stanley
Jay will be at St. Patrick's to cele-
brate the Holy Eucharist on Pente-
cost Sunday.
St. Patrick's will celebrate their
137th church anniversary at 10:30
a.m. on June 1, with a time of fel-
lowship and refreshments to follow
in the Parish Hall.
Suzanne DaVis, Crystal and Starr
attended a Mother's Day family
celebration on Sunday at Dash-
wood honoring their mother and
grandmother Dorothy Dietrich.
Richard Dietrich of Drumhellar,
Alberta was home for a visit.
Many families from St. Patrick's
and neighborhood honored their
mothers with family get-togethers
this past weekend.
Ron and Margaret Carroll, mem-
bers of the Heritage Committee, at-
tended the "Ride Back in Time" at
Lucan on Saturday evening.

The Annual May Tea; Bazaar and
Bake Sale was held on Saturday,
May 10 at the Rest Home. There
was a silent auction this year, and
Dawne Erb was the highest bidder
for a Teddy Bear donated by Don-
na Thiel. A 1/2 hour massage, do-
nated by Dawne Erb, went to Mar-
tha Risi. Two mirrors donated by
Veronica. Bedard went to Lottie
Gcenier and Louise Hayter. Painted
pillow cases; donated by Marie De-
nomme went to Rose Regier, and a
ceramic candle holder,. donated, by
Martha Risi went to Jean . Aim -
strong: Celia Farwell wort .a cake
decorated by Mary -Lou Erb and
Ina Nceb's baby quilt also went in
the auction... .. of. •
The . Lions Club will be having
their dinner meeting at the Doniin-
ion Tavern tonight at 7 p.m. All
members are reminded to attend.
The next Agricultural Society
(Fair Board Meeting) will: be held
on Thursday May 22 at the Hay
Township Hall beginning at 8:15.

tance. phone call was received on
Sunday by Jeanne Hay, from her
grandson Jamie Hay, son of Shirley

and Bill Janke of Exeter. He was,
calling from Kuwait (in the Persian
Gulf). He has been in that area
since last June. One of the interest- .
ing things he has done was to tour a
Canadian Navy ship that was
docked in the port recently. He is
doing some travelling and • should
be home for Christmas.

Phi Sorority attended the Founder's
Day dinner at the White Carnation
Banquet Halt on April 29, hosted
by the Clinton Chapters. Musical
entertainment was provided by
Zoellyn and Capucene Onn. The
message from International was
read by president Shirley Walkom.
On May 6, 20 members and guest
Janice Barker met at the home of
Shirley, Walkom in Mitchell for a
potluck supper.
Upcoming plans for the 50th an-
niversary celebration of Beta Sigma
Phi in Exeter on Junq at the Hes-
senland Restaurant wkre discussed.
A donation was made to the Exeter
Fall Fair.
It was announced that the dates
for the barbecue at Darlings are Au-
