Kirkton flower show enjoyed
by Granton and area residents

from the community to Ken'. and
Edith Mulholland. who celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversaryon
the weekend. •
Numerous Granton area members
attended the Kirkton •Horticultural
Societymini flower show and
meeting on Tuesday evening, May
'6. Slides were shown. on all kinds
of clematis and a number were giv-
en as door prizes.
The Mothers and Others Gerarli-
uni.Iunchcon.was wall attended and
very enjoyable at the United
Church en Saturday.. May 10 at
noon sponsored by Unit one.
During a short program which
followed some of the members pre-
sented a skit titled 'An Amazing
Discovery. They portrayed shrubs
and trees which had• been growing
/*side a .stream for years -and sud•
-
denly they discovered that Zaccha-.
cus had climbed a tree to see Jesus
and that' Jesus was crucified on a
wooden cross having died • for the
redemption of sins.;
Audrey .Wcstman also read a
-.-poem 'Mothers were once daugh-
ters'. Then Doreen McRohert gave.
each -of the children present a beau-
tifully decorated egg. Unit 2 mem-
'hers m. ere in charge of selling the
geraniums.
Muriel Lewis met. with Clande-
hoye WI on Wednesday. May. 7 on
an outing fur dinner at the Rose
Maria restaurant in Shakespeare
/ and a tour of numerous quality ytn-
/ / tiyue stores and also a parrot hop
where one pp.rrrol said. 'hello'.
Al the Granton United Church on
Sunday. May 11 which was Moth-
ers bay, Pastor Normalie Voakes
entitled her sermon Family Matters.
Normalie also- presented all . the
choir members with .corsages and
thanked them for their help each
Sunday.
At 'St. Pauls' Anglican
Church.
Kirkton the ReV. Arnold Ruskell,
took charge of the. morning prayer
service in the absence of Rev.
Glenda Meakin. The sermon was
about having the vision and faith to
recognize God's Will through Jesus
Christ. • The lessons were read by
Muriel Lewis. Rosemary Schaefer
and the minister.
.The childrcns focus • was about
'sowing seeds and the invention of
the seed drill. All the mothers and
others 'were given carnations for
• Mothers Day. •

Unit 2 met at Penny McRoberts
home in Lucan on Monday eve-
ning. May 5. Pam Hayes led the
discussion when further plans were
made for the Mothers and Others
Geranium Luncheon On May 10
and some recent undertakings were
evaluated: Tentative arrangements
- were proposed for the June'mceting
and dere are still cookbooks, on
hand. The hostess Penny served re
freshmen's.
. Unit 3 met_ at Cheryl Wright's
place . on Tuesday night. May 6.
Joan Hayden led the meditation on
Blessings.. reading seJeral scripture.

scripture. reading from Matthew 5
and the meditation 'Enough al-
ready'. followed by prayer: Betty
Dann presented the program on the
theme 'Rock of Ages'. Marilyn
. read a tribute to mothers and Betty
gave some humour for the day. The
benediction and. the grace brought
the meeting to a closeand Nora
served lunch.
Unit 5 -met on May 6 at the home
of Mary Wallis: President Margaret
Spence opened with a poem. May -
time and the devotional 'Time. to
put Out the garbage'. The hymn le -
