Baptism held at Centralia church

CENTRALIA - Mother's Day,
May 11, was a celebration of
Christian Family Sunday at Cen-
tralia United Church. Student
Minister Heather Scott's sermon
was entitled "In Memory of Her".
She spoke about the importance
of mothers throughout time. A
special men's choir provided mu-
sic, and the women received car-
nations from the children of the
Sunday School.
Adding to the worship was the
baptism of Shade Robert Harrett,
son of Exia Harrett and grandson
of Becky and Ron Harrett. The
congregation welcomed Shade
into the family of God. Sam Skin-
ner and members of the Harrett
family assisted Heather Scott with
the baptism.
Centralia Faith Tabernacle
The Family Night scheduled for
May 14 has been cancelled at Cen-
tralia Faith Tabernacle.
Special evangelical services will
be held with Evangelist Anita
Pierce on May 15 and 16 at 7 p.m.
On May 17, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., a
Youth Rally will be held with
Pierce and special youth music
ministry. A lunch will be provided
between the services. Pierce will
also join in both the 11 a.m. service
and 7 p.m. worship service on May
18. Nursery will be available. Eve-
ryone 'is welcome to attend these
services.
The Praise Night for the March
for Jesus will be held May 20 at
7:30 p.m. at Church of God in
Grand Bend.
Other upcoming activities
An Official Board meeting for
Zion West and Centralia United
Churches will be held May 15 at
Zion West.
From May 22 to 25, the Lon-
don Conference Annual Meeting
will be held in Woodstock.
The Community of Churches
Joint Worship Service will be
held at Thames Road Church on
May 25. Choir practice will be
held May 18 at 7:30 p.m. at
Thames Road.
All youth are invited to join
the Huron -Perth Youth Council
on a trip to Canada's Wonder-
land this year on June 7. Regis-
tration fee is $36 for a day pass
including transportation. Regis-
tration deadline is May 17. Con-

Scott for registration forms.
On June 1, Centralia Sunday
School will hold their anniver-
sary service followed by a pot-
luck lunch. Everyone is welcome
to come listen to guest speaker
Judy Mills.
BRA plans spring textile collection
CENTRALIA - The Bluewater
Recycling Association will be col-
lecting textiles curbside from May
26 through to June 6 in all member
municipalities. This two week col-
lection is being undertaken in part-
nership with Goodwill Industries
and the Salvation Army, and will
benefit everyone involved. Resi-
dents will be able to recycle un-
wanted, reusable textile items while
providing valuable resources to lo-
cal social service agencies who are
working to help those in need.
The following are considered ac-
ceptable textile products:
• Clothing - men's women's and
children' s
• Accessories - purses, belts, ties,
etc.
• Outerwear - hats, scarves, coats,
gloves, etc.
• Footwear - shoes, boots, slippers,
overshoes, etc.
For collection, textiles should be
placed in plastic bags with either a
sock tied around the neck or clearly
labelled "Textiles Only". Bagged
textiles can then be placed beside
the blue box on regular blue box
collection days during the period
from May 26 through to Jude 6.

Registration notice. It's a step in the right direction.
