Sewer system discussed
at Granton public meeting

Ahout 70 people attended a public
meeting in Granton on April 25 to
be updated on the s illage's sewer
dilemma.
An environmental assessment de-
termined the police village of Gran-
ton needed a new sewer system' to
replace its. malfunctioning sceptic
tanks, but the Township of Bid-
dulph. can't afford the estimated
Cost of $1.7 million.
"We told them there is n.o money
available from the Ministry. that we
could find. But if an infrastructure
program comes 'along it's possible
some of that can be directed toward
the sewer project in Granton," said
Clerk -'treasurer Larry Hotson, add-
ing- council also' updated there on
the water system. Council recently
approved $20.000 worth of up-
grades to the village's water sys-
tem.

Council heard a number of pro-
posals and Hotson .said all of them
are being considered.
"We were directed-to:keep going
'•with this and try to get more pro-
posals." said Hutson:
