written by Gerry Dohrindt was read. Carol Steckle_ of Huron Ridge Acres
talked about planters and containers. She demonstrated by planting three•
• types of planters -one with flowers for the full sun, one fot'partial shade
and one for- in •the shade..One of the planters was .given as a draw prize:
Doris Edwards was the recipient.

dents at Blue Water Rest Home.
. Gladys on accordion and piano,
Eglin Nott and Harvey McDowell
on violin and Mozart Gelinas on
guitar and banjo waned the hearts
of the seniors with niany of their fa-
vorite tunes.
It was on the buses .Tuesday as
Elda Wagner, Clara Hamilton. Bob
• Carson. Lottie Gascho, Pearl Mill-
er, Kurt Gebel, Rose Broderick,
Hilda Rader, Harry. Maas and
Catherine Riehl headed r into .the
country. Volunteer driver Jim Pur-
vis toured Varna, . Holmesville.
Benmiller. Sultord. Goderich
"Square and the lighthouse before
heading hack to -Zurich. ,
Wednesday. to celebrate spring,
the residents..enjoyed Rain Day.
The.atiditorium was decorated with
many dilferent_patterns of umbrel-
las. The tables were adorned with
fresh daffodils and the residents en-
joyed their afternoon tea with hosts

dys Gingerich and her daughter Ca-
thy.
Wednesday evening the residents
were entertained by the Bodacious
Jazz Bandwith members Bob
Fletcher on banjo, Ed. Mittelholtz
on saxophone. Elwood Truemner
on trumpet and George Godholt on
keyboard. After the performance.
Martha and Josef Risi assisted with.
the serving Of refreshments to the
residents and their guests.

truck containing cardboard. in an
attempt to save the vehicle the em-
ployee tried to empty the .truck's
burning contents but inadvertently
Ignited a 500 gallon above ground
pctnilcum tank nearby..
"As Noon as our first truck..ar-
rived on. the scene the tank lit up
and a big tlame shotout like a ro-
man candle." said Pertschy. add-
ing the situation would have be-
come much more serious if the
1000 gallon diesel fuel tank next
to it also became involved..
Firefighters • quickly gained .
control of ..the burning tank but
had trouble extinguishing the fire.
