Hospitals of
Huron Perth
advance
investigation
HURON/PERTH - in January,
the eight hospitals of Huron Perth
devised a health planning model
that would see district wide coordi-.
nation of health services, all eight
facilities remaining open with 24
emergency and significant savings
through economics in administra-
tion and support areas. In February.
the eight hospitals set in place two
working groups to investigate all
the possible improvements from
consolidated administration and
governance. These groups. have
been working with the assistance of
a: health planning facilitator and
„meoting regularly every other
week.
"There is a myriad of details to
he investigated in areas such as
corporate and medical staff re-
organi,ation and system wide hu-
man resources if the move to con-
soiatrrin is to work effectively..
commented Kerry 1Ekrgrave. chair
of Listowel Memorial Hospital and
spokesperson for the eight •hospi-
tals.
"As legally responsible public
hoards, we each need to enure
that changes will work and will al-
low for quality health care to he
provided. We cannot compromise
quality in a rush to change." Bla-
grave added.
The hospitals hope to have the re-
sults of their working groups' ef-
forts by early summer so the ideas
can be discussed by each of the
eight hoards. The DHC is being
kept informed of the progress .and
the Hospitals look forward to. con-
tinuing collaborative planning for
the future health services in Huron
Perth.
