35th anniversary

KIPPEN - The Kippen East
Women's Institute held their annual
meeting at the home of Mona Al-
derdice on April 15 at 8 p.m. with
Lil McLellan as co -hostess.
Grace Drummond, president,
welcomed everyone and read the
"Pessimist Creed." The meeting
opened with the Ode and Mary
•Stewart Collect. Ten members an-
.tiwered the roll• call, stating what
they look for an' label - fat -con-
tent, cholorferol; ��ermanent
press. washable, where it is made,
fabric content etc.
Membership fees, were paid. The
minutes of the March meeting were
read as well as the minutes of
March and April of 1935, the first
year of the Kippen East W.I. Dele-
gates' were chosen for the District
Annual to he held on May IS at
Scalorth Northside United Church,
beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The June meeting will be the an-
nual car trip, going to a dinner and
concert at Wonderland Gardens.
Grace Eyre gave the Sunshine
Report; Mona Alderdice, the Treas-
urer's report; Phyllis Parsons, the
auditors report; the. Resolutions and
P.R.O. report were given by Mona
Alderdice and Grace Drummond
gave the convener's ieport.

posed list of officeys and these were
accepted and in ailed as follows:

SAINTSBURY - On April 19, St.
Patrick's celebrated their evening
prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Court-
ney MacGillivray led the service
with Kim Kelley reading the scrip-
ture lessons. The children's focus
was about "The Good Shepherd."
Margaret Carroll gave the message.
The service closed with the hymn
"The Day Thou Gayest Lord is
Ended."

Holy Eucharist service on April, 27
at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stanley

Suzanne Davis, Kimberley Kel-
ley, Heather MacGillivray and Ha-
zel Davis attended the Perth Spring
Deanery meeting at St. Paul's,
Kirkton, on Thursday evening,
April 17. A presentation was given
by Harold and Aileen Burgin on
their trip to Ethiopia.
Margaret Carroll was. presented
with a nine-year pin at the Volun-
teers Dinner on Thursday evening
at the Exeter Villa.

Davis on the weekend. Linda Foran
was Sunday dinner guest with the
Davis's.
Harley Davis competed, Sunday
at the Mono Centre, Orangeville in
the Moto Cross races, winning
ninth place in the 80 expert and
fifth place in the Super Mini. He
has moved up this year, racing in
the •12-16 year-old category.
Sincere sympathy to the families
of the late Hazel Blanc and to the
families of the late Norman Hod-
gins whose funerals were held from
the C. Haskett and Son Funeral
Home in Lucan recently; also to
the Maillet and King families in the
sudden death of Johnny . Maillet,
whose funeral was held from the
McCallum and Palla Funeral Horne
in Goderich recently.
Aunts and uncles,• cousins and
friends from this community at-
tended a wedding recently at St.
Patrick's Church in London when
Pamela Lynn, daughter of Leslie
and Carol Greenlee and Mac Gar-
cia, son of Macario'and. Maria Ser-
ra
erra were united in marriage with a
reception at the Imperio Hall, Lon-.
don.
Several from the community at-
tended the 50th Wedding Anniver-
sary recently honoring Cecil and
Marie Lewis.at the Lucan Commu-
nity Centre, given by their family.
Katherine Elston of Exeter visit-
ed with Mary Davis recently.
Fred Jr. and Patricia Dobbs were
recent guests of their daughter and
son-in-law, the Reverends Rob and
Patricia Dobbs Luxton of Holy
Trinity Anglican Church in Ches-
ley. A family celebration was held
at the rectory to honor the engage-
tnent of their son, Fred Dobbs III, a
biologist with the Nottawasaga
Conservation Authority and his fi-
ancee, Traci McKean of York Uni-
versity. Fred and Traci have chosen
a winter date .for their wedding.
