Rotary Trail agreement
BOSANQUET -' The. Town of
Bosariquet and the Rotary Club of
Grand Bend have signed an, agree-
ment 'formalizing the ownership
and management structure of .the
Rotary Nature Trail which will,run
from fhe south end of Grand Bend
to. the Pinery. The third party to the
agreement, Ministry of Transporta-
tion of Ontario, has also signed.
• The trail will he •owned by the
Town of Bosanquet, and construct-
ed and managed by,, the Rotary Club
of Grand Bend on the, Ministry of
Transpr ttlhir f.of way lin-
the west side of Highway 21. The
signing of the agreement caps a
long series of negotiations and dis-
cussions between the three signato-
ries as well as other parties like the
Ministry of Natural Resources.
The Rotary Club has moved past
the half -way mark in its drive to
raise funds for the Nature Trail con-
necting Grand Bend and the Pinery.
More than $100,000 of the
$182,000 needed has now been re-
ceived. with many donors express-
ing their pleasure to the fact that
children will hive a safe path along
Highway 21 for walking or biking.
Tenders for the construction of
the trail will soon he released by
the Town of Bosanquct. it is ex-
pected that an award will he- made
shortly thereafter so that construc-
tion can begin quickly. An official
opening is scheduled for'May 16.
In the meantime, -the Rotary Club
of Grand Bend continues its fund-
raising efforts. Local school chil-
'dr'en arc canvassing door=to-door to
assist the efforts. As well, sponsor
, forms are available at local banks,
` businesses and from any Rotarian. '
Pledges are being taken at $25 per
metre, with a tax receipt issued by
the Town', of Bosanquet for any
amount of $50 or more. All dona-
tions for metres are acknowledged

The Nature Trail is a seven kilo -
Metre trail that runs along the west
side of Highway 21 between Grand
Bend'and the Pinery. Offshoots are
planned that run through natural ar-
eas. increasing the attractiveness of
the path. The project is being man-
aged by the Rotary Club of Grand
Bend with cooperation from the
Town of Bosanquet, the Ministry of
Transportation of Ontario, the Min-
istry of Natural Resources and oth-
er interested groups. A total of
• $182,000 will be needed to com-
plete the project.

Dance raises funds for arena
Some lucky people
won door prizes.

ZURICH - There was a good
crowd at a dance at the Community
Centre on , Friday night to raise
money .for the arena. Several peo-
ple won door prizes donated by
businesses in the area. Bob Merner
won $130 in a 50/50 draw.
South Huron High School drama
students are presenting a play "Lis-
ten to the Wind" from April 30 to
May 2, 7 p.m. each evening. All
seats cost* $5 and are available at
greeting Card World or at the
school office.
The Senior Citizens Spring Rally
will be held at the Zurich Commu-.
nit), Centre on April 17 with regis-
tration at 9:30 a.m. for Zone #8,
hosted by the Golden Agers of Zu-
rich and the Hensall group.
A musical program was held at
St. Peter's Lutheran Church on
Sunday evening, April 13. Flute'
music was played by Jan Searle
from Stratford, along with Tanya
Humphrey.
Alyssa Darling of Exeter sang
some songs, accompanied by Julie
Darling on the piano.
Two couples, The Bauman-
Bramhill Quartet from Atwood and
Palmerston entertained with some
southern gospel music.
Refreshments were enjoyed after-
wards.
St. Boniface C.W.L. held a meet-
' ing April 15 ih the parish hall with
guest speaker Elizabeth Dobe talk-
ing on the work of Dr. Simone.
Pop and beer cans are being col-
lected to raise money for the church
steeple of St. Boniface. You cnn
drop them off at the home of Doug ,
Debus or Ralph Smith in Zurich or
John Jacobs at 166 King St., Hen-
sall.
A school council meeting will be
held at St Boniface in the gym on
April 23 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the
present and future happenings of
the school.
The Zurich Agricultural Fair
Board will meet Aprit 17 at the
Township Hall at 8 p.m. All mem-
bers are encouraged to come help
plan the upcoming fair in July.
The Bayfield Lions will be cele-
brating their 50th anniversary on
April 25 at the Bayfield Communi-
ty Centre with the dinner and pro-
gram beginning at 7 p.m. There
will be a social hour at 6 p.m. Tick-
ets are $15 per person and are
available from Lion John at 565-
2479 or Lion Ross at 565-2857, be- .
fore April 20. Members from the
Zurich Lions Club are invited to
help them celebrate.
Four members of the Zurich Li-
ons Club attended the annual con-
vention in Brantford on the week-
end. Those attending were
president Louis Willen, secretary
John Becker, Carl'Finkbeiner and
Wayne McKinnon. The club will
be canvassing for cancer this
month.
The Hay Days windup party will
be held at the Zurich Community
Centre April 18, beginning at 9
p.m.
Group leaders from the rest home
Auxiliary are reminded to phone
their groups about the region#3 an-
nual meeting at the Home on April
23, so organizers will know how
many to plan lunch for. Phone
• Donna Klopp as soon as possible at
236-4675.
The Zurich Women's • institute
meeting_ was held April 7 at the
Town Hall. it was opened with the
Institute Ode followed by the Mary
Steward Collect. A contest was
held by Pearl Heimrich; to see how
many items beginning with the let-
ter P would fit into.a pint jar. All
members brought their own jars.
Gerry Kane won first with 83, fol-
lowed by Kay Hay with 78. Louise
Hayter gave a reading about spring.
The members answered the roll
call by paying their dues. They
were 'reminded of the district annu-
al in Seaforth on May 15 and the
district picnic in Exeter on July 8.
A donation was given to the Zurich
Fair Board. Minutes of the last
meeting were given' by Ina Neeb
and the Tweedsmuir report by
Mary Waters. Annual reports were
given by Ina Neeb and Bridget
Groot. The slate of officers was
read by Kay Hay. A lunch was
served by Pearl Heimrich . and
Louise Hayter and a social hour
was enjoyed. The slate of officers
for 1997-98 are as follows:

Tammy and Darren Collett were
married at Immaculate Heart of
Mary Church in Grand Bend on
April 12. The dinner and reception
were held in Hensall. The bride is
the daughter of Richard and Rose

returned to their home at the lake
recently after spending the winter
months in Arizona.
Sympathy of the community is

Wayne Masse, who was in a car ac-
