Heather and Valerie Laurie shared their gift of music playing the trumpets. Rev.. Tracy Crick led with the announce- ments and the call to worship. Lin- da Keys gave the children's story on "The Easter Surprise." - Communion was celebrated -fol- lowing the sermon. Next Sunday, April 6, the church service will be held in Varna at 10:30 a.m. The Varna U.C.W. will meet at the church on April 3 at 8 p.m. Both Varna and Goshen are•invit-' ed to the following Thankoffering meetings: Habitat for. Humanity, April 8 at 8 p.m. in Kippen and in Bayfield, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bayfield United Church.. The Teens are looking for baking donations for their Spaghetti. sup- per on April 5. Any help would be appreciated. The supper is _ from '5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children under 12 and children under three are free. Stanley Township Rec Committee's ' twelfth annual Canoe Rally will be held April 6 with registration from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The last early bird draw for $250 will be drawn that day also. The final draw for the other cash prizes and the truck will be held May 31 with a dance and lunch for two. Contact one of the Rec Committee members if you need a ticket for $100. The Stanley Township Baseball registration will be held April 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stanley Complex. Marjorie Johnsread the story of the Last Supper. - The choir sang two anthems ''It Was for Mc" and "At Calvary" ac- companied by organist Agnes Bray. Ray Cann and Bruce Delbridge received the offering which was -di- vided between the churches' M&S funds. Each person went to the front of the church to .receive communion from elders John. Batten, Robert Bray, Ray Cann, Leona Cottle, Bruce-Delbridge, and Jean Johns. Scripture readings were given by Kathy Bray, Joan Skinner, Ray Cann, Fred Delbridge, Beatrice Dawson, Grace Pym and Rev. Jock Tolmay. Candles were blown out by Jessi- ca Bray, Courtney Smith, Megan Parker, Corey Smith, Steven Van- denhussche, Megan Pavkeje and Rev. Tolmay. Sunrise service About 70 people enjoyed the joint Easter breakfast at Elimville on Sunday morning following the Sunrise service. Easter service Rev. Following words of welcome from Bob Heywood. Master of Cer- emonies for the evening, Ray Cann, proposed a toast to the Queen, fol- lowed by '0 Canada'. After grace by Delbridge, a roast beef dinner was served by the Elimville United Church Women. They were thanked by Cecil Pepper and Presi- dent Sharon Lynn responded. Heywood kept everyone laughing at his stories and jokes as he intro- duced head table. A 50 -year jewel was presented to Austin Schwalm by 'Grand Master Ron Wanamaker. Wanamaker also presented a plaque to Noble Grand Bro. Donald Dearing commending Exeter Lodge #67 for 126 years of work in the community. The musical group of Marlene Mathers, Eric Kints, Bill Rowe and Ray Cann entertained. Winners of thc Share the Wealth draw were Don Weigand, Allen Johns and Shirley Marlene.
