STEPHEN TOWNSHIP - After
winning two close one -goal
games, the Stephen Town-
ship Novice rep. team
cruised to an easy 9-1 victo-
ry over Mildmay last Tuesday
to win the WOAA "D -DD"
championship.
Jason Thompson scored
four goals, Brent Windsor
and J.T. Knee scored two
and Greg Thompson scored
one with Blair McCann, Cale
Duenk and Leanne Cronyn
getting the assists.
Coach Bev Thompson said
the lopsided win was due to
the players regaining their
form.
"We got our old style of
hockey back with lots of
puck movement and every-
body skating well," he said,
adding they seemed to be
oft their game after going the
distance with Drayton play-
ing them five games in the
semi-finals.
"That was a tough series
and Drayton seemed get us
away from our game...the
kids were pumped affer get-
ting by that," explained
Thompson.
Winning the WOAA was the
highlight of a successful sea-
son that saw the Stephen
novice team win the Bill Bat-
ten tournament in Exeter and
clinch the Regional Sliver
Stick tournament to advance
to the International Silver
Stick in Michigan.
