On Friday, April 11, beginning at 7 p.m., the Stephen Central Public School's Parent Advisory Council is planning an Extravaganza Night. This special event will include a Time and Talent Auction, a hake table manned by a local church group. a food booth with local volunteers and student council members and a chance auction that will also run during the evening. "Not only will people be able to find some 'great articles or services during the evening, they will also be able to visit with friends and have an enjoyable time watching the antics and professionalism of local auctioneers Bob Heywood and Brett Coulter," said committee chairperson Diannc Finkbeincr. "We have had some fantastic donations from parents within our school families and with thc • assistance from members of the community, we arc hoping for an entertaining night." Finkbeiner added. A shuttle bus service is planned for thc community. Onc bus will do the Exeteir to Grand Bend route with stops in Dashwood and the other bus will travel the Centralia -Huron Park and Crediton route. Anyone interested in using this mode of transportation can call Deb Lord at 234-6396 for the route and.schedule • "With all the cutbacks in education. we felt it was time to fundraise on a much larger scale than we have been organizing lately. Come out and bid on some of the great articles or services that local families have donated. 4 Exeter Pentecostal Women's Ministries EXETER - The March 27th Womens' Ministries meeting from the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle, was held at the home -of Dove Mas- theson. - Ada Triebner, vice president took charge of the meeting, and the chorus "The Wind is Blowing Again was sung. Ella Tinney prayed. The hymn "Amazing Grace" was sung while Matheson accompanied on the organ. - The roll call was taken by Shirley Prouty and answered by a Bible verse on "Wind". There were 10 present. . The minutes and treasurers' re- port were given. Thank you cards and letters.wcre read. The group decided to send dona- tions to two needy families. Idena Desjardinc had the special and repeated the words of the hymn "How Great Thou Art", and then played it on the organ • with the group joining in. Ruth 'McLaren had a missionary reading about Rev. Ray and Betty Faulkner at Sri Lanki. She also read about Robert and Marion Parkin- son, who,were on their way to Trin- idad and their ship was torpedoed. Robert and many others . were killed. Marion continued on by her- self. Don Jolly had the message of the afternoon. His topic was on "Wind". Acts, Ch. 2. Lunch was served by- the hostess Dove Matheson and Ada Triebner helped. Party planned for Hay Days volunteers Volunteers ensured the success of the var- ious events during the year. 'The Essentials'. a cappella group will entertain along with the Sca- forth Harmony Kings and Hi-Litcs. A fundraising dance for the Zu- rich Community Centre will be held April 11 from.8 p.m. to 1 a.rn. at the arena. with music by "Night - wind." Special Masses were held at St. Boniface. The Mennonite church had a con- tinental breakfast before the Easter service and thc M.Y.F. group held a food scavenger hunt on Saturday night. The Lutheran Church had a sun- rise service at 8 a.m.: followed by a breakfast and a communion ser- vice. The United Church had a sunrise service and breakfast in Dashwood. Anyone wanting to go on a Nus trip from May 17 to 19 to Holland. Michigan to sec the tulips can phone Mary -Lou Erb at 236-4779 in the evening. The trip is spon- sored by thc Mennonite Church. Personals The family of Herb and Donna Klopp and Jerome and Carmel. Sweeney enjoyed Easter brunch at Erb's Country Kitchen, followed " by a get-together at the Klopps af- terwards. The family of Mozart and Julie Gelinas Jr, anti relatives had Easter. brunch at Erb's Country Kitchen. Thc Flaxbards had a get-together and Easter dinner at their home on. Sunday. Ron and Sharon Schroeder cele-' 'brated Easter at their home with family members.. Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr. took the train last Wednesday to Orleans. Ottawa to spend Easter with their daughter Melissa and Neil Francis and two grandchil- dren. Helene Ducharmc has taken up residence in the Meidinger Apart- ments. ' A surprise birthday party was held for Kim Crete at her home in Hensall on Friday night with sever- al relatives and friends attending. Happy 95th birthday wishes to to Juliette Denomme on April 3. She has taken up residence at thc Blue Water Rest Home. Also moving to Blue Water Rcst Home recently were Gcrt Durand and Geraldine Charettc. all of Zurich. Happy birthday wishes go to Chantel Gelinas on March 31; to Marion Sweeney on March 25; Joe Overholt Jr. on March 30; and Kristin Mathonia on March 29. Neil and Glady% Oingcrich are celebrating their 50th anniversary on April 6 with an Open House at the Zurich Mennonite Church fel- lowship hall from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Grade four teacher at St. Boni- face School, Cathy Rau, is back from a maternity leave. Get well wishes go to Barrie Linden who is on sick leave. Sympathy of the community goes to the grade three teacher, Mrs. Pettus, on thc sudden loss of her sister. Several Zurich residents have re- turned home after spending the winter down south: Don and Don- na O'Brien, Curtis and Mary Gingcrich, Paul and Joan Du- charme, Neil and Gladys Gingcrich and Darl and Tillie Rau. Karl and Mary Regier Sr. en- joyed a two week vacation in Flori- da during the March break. • John and Marilyn Geiger went to St. Augustine. Florida and did some golfing. Richard and Monica Gingcrich and their new baby recently went to -Florida to visit with her grand- parents Curtis and Mary Gingcrich. Beattie Geoffrey was home from Huronvicw for the Easter weekend. Granddaughter Beverly and family of Michigan were there to help her and visit. Jean Armstrong and her sister-in- law from Montreal enjoyed a three week trip to Port Charlott, Florida recently. A surprise bridal shower was held for Shannon Munger on March 31 at thc home of Marie Ge- linas Jr. at St. Joseph Shores II Subdivision. Shannon is the fiance of Marc Crane. They are going to be married on May 10. Joanne and George Regier of RR 1 Dashwood have their fifth baby, a boy born on March 27. Grandpar- ents arc Clare and Mary Faye Regi- er of RR 3 Zurich. Nancy Ducharme and friend Isa- belle Sparks from Bayfield enjoyed a two-week holiday in Forida be- fore Easter. Rosie Rothenberg and two chil- dren spent the Easter weekend in London with her mother Sharon and Keva Silverstein. Tabatha Overholt enjoyed a bus tour of Italy, Rome and various places during the March break. The drama was , pre- sented .on Saturday and Sunday. An intergenerational worship ser vice was held at Zion United Church on Good Friday. Several i people re-enacted a Good Friday drama' based on John 18:1-19:42. Margaret Hern provided a solo. Centralia Faith Tabernacle mem- bers travelled to Michigan and Kitchener on Good Friday to attend special events. Approximately 30" members travelled to Bethesda Christian Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and --approxi- mately 30 went to hear Christian re- cording artist Steve Green in con- cert in Kitchener. , - There was a good attendance at Centralia Faith Tabernacle. for thc Easter drama entitled "Born to Die" on March 29 and 30. On Easter Sunday, March 30, a sunrise service was held at Zion West with a potluck breakfast. Easter worship services were also held. at Zion West and• Centralia United. Student minister Heather Scott welcomed everyone to the service with a special welcome back,to several visitorsand stu- • dents who were visiting with fami- ly. ' amily.' Upcoming events Crediton U.C.W. have invited Centralia U.C.W. to their meeting on April 3 at 8 p.m. Centralia U.C.W. will hold their regular monthly meeting the following week, April 10. Sandi Skinner will be the guest speaker. On April 5, Zion will host their annual Ladies' Breakaway at Kirk - ton Community Centre. A few tick- ets are available. Also on April 5, the youth of Centralia Faith Tabernacle will par- ticipate in the Youth for Christ,quiz at 8 p.m. at Brucefield Public School.. Jay Klopfenstein, ` Youth 'pastor in Wisconsin, will be guest speaker. On April 6, everyone is welcome to on "Old Fashioned Fellowship Meal" following the morning wor- ship service at Centralia Faith Tab- ernacle. - April- 6 will be Canned Goods Sunday at Centralia and Zion West. UnitedChurches. Zion U.C:W. is invited to a U.C.W. meeting -at Thames Road Church on April 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets arc available for the ham supper at Centralia United on April 12. There will be two sittings - at •..4:30 and 6 p.m. This meal will cost $9 for adults and 54.50 for children aged six to 12. If you'd like tickets, contact the Stewards or call Alan Powe at 228-6557.
