Seating Your Wedding Guests: Who Bits Where
14 Remember musical chairs? As the music stopped, everyone
scrambled for a seat, leaving one poor soul standing. This
haphazard approach won't work for a wedding, although
an anxious bride may feel tempted to let chance, rather than
place cards, determine where guests sit. To help her develop
the most sensible plan, BRIDE'S Magazine offers these
expert guidelines:
Seats for all. When selecting a reception site, couples
should ask how many tables are available, where they are
positioned, and how many guests can fit at each. Then they

Place Cards? Buffet -style receptions do it., require formal
seat assignments, but if the reception features a served meal,
a seating chart and place cards help things run smoothly.
Guests' names should be written on both sides of place cards
so those across the table can see and remember them once
they've been introduced!
The bride's table. Often, the bridal party is seated with the
best man at the bride's right, maid of honour at groom's left,
then the rest of the party at their sides, alternating men and
women. But other acceptable options do exist, including a .
cozy table for two—just the newlyweds.
Family matters. Parents, clergy members and other close
relatives usually comprise a family table. A modern-day
etiquette note: Divorced parents should be seated separately,
each hosting their own table.

Time For The .Honeymoon—
Tips On Honeymoon Planning
It wasn't too long ago that it was the groom's right of marital
passage to solely plan the honeymoon. Today, couples are
discovering a new idea that makes honeymoon planning .
even more successful and fun—sharing.
"More couples are finding that they both want to be
involved in planning the honeymoon," said Geri Bain, travel
editor for Modern Bride magazine. "It makes sense that if
both are involved, the chances of a mutually enjoyable time
are greatly increased. That's an important factor when it
comes to planning one of the most important trips of your
life."
According to Joanie Flynn, director of leisure and resort
marketing for Hilton Hotels Corporation—which hosts
thousands of honeymooners every year—the secret to
selecting the right location is variety, spiced with romance.
"Honeymooners need to look for a destination that offers
them choices. Some want to relax and bask in the sun, while
others look for more adventurous activities or sports," said
Flynn. "We try to accommodate everyone. In fact, to help set
the right mood for newlyweds, we offer a Romance Package
that includes upgraded accommodations, complimentary
champagne, late
check-out and even breakfast in bed."
For couples planning their honeymoon together, Los
Angeles -based author and wedding consultant Leslie
Aronzon, provides these tips:
• Give yourself time to unwind after the wedding before
jumping into a hectic travel schedule. Relax at a nearby hotel,
or arrange a day or two at a resort.
& Avoid planning a trip that requires spending most of your
time traveling to and from your destination.
• Plan a budget! Decide how much to spend before your
trip to avoid discussing money concerns during the
honeymoon.
• Ask your travel agent about specid value-added hotel
features. This could save you time an money. Some hotels,
like Hilton, offer romance and resort package deals.
• Let service people know you're on your honeymoon—
chances are they will be more sensitive to your needs.
• Confirm your reservations, activities, budget and
vacation days ahead
of time.
• Keep weather patterns in mind when planning and
packing for trips. Check with the local hotel to make sure
your honeymoon isn't spent during a rainy or very humid
season.
• Allow yourself time to get passports, visas or
immunizations for international trips. New brides should
remember to book airline tickets under their maiden or
married name, whichever one matches their passport. And
don't forget replacement medical prescriptions. You never
know when you might lose a contact lens!
For more information about romantic or relaxing trip
destinations, couples should contact their travel agent
or Hilton Hotels by calling 1 -800 -HILTONS, or by logging on
