up on Saturday.. _Overall,winners were, from left( skip. John

first game of the Huron -Perth fi-
nals. the Exeter Petite "C ringette
team rallied in the second round io
make it a one goal game,.
'Exeter Goalie Holly Hern faced
41 shots on net in the first game
while -the -Exeter offence could only •
muster 24 against.
"We dust couldn't •get anything
going in that game." said coach Mi-.

Stratford is a strong "team and Ex-
eter has struggled with • them,
throughout the season. Another loss
in game two would eliminate them
from the H -P Championship. but
Hodgen said Exeter wasn't readj-
to give up. .
"We were in a must win situation
and 1 told thc girls if we can't pull
off the victory' then let's scare them •

by making it close." said Hodgen.
Exeter tried so hard to make the
game close they almost won.
Undaunted by the quick 5-2 Rad
Exeter mounted a comeback and
made it 5-4 late in thc gain. With
Exeter pressing deep in the of-
fensive zone they finally beat the
Stratford goalie but the play was
whistled dead before the ring
crossed the goal line.
Stratford was called for four in
the zone and Exeter was awarded a
penalty shot with only 0:28 seconds
remaining. A goal would have tied
the game at five, however the Strat-

ford goalie made the save to secure
the win.
Even though the loss ended .their
playoff hopes. Hodgen •said it was '
one of their mosi successful games
because they have never come this
close to beating Strafford and the..
'penalty- shoe was an exciting way to
end the game.
"It was the first penalty shot in'a
game situation. it was a new • ex-
perience for them."-said.Hodgen.
Miranda Grenier scored seven
goals and Bnttans Revington' put in
two for Exeter in the series.
Coming within one goal of tieing.
Stratford is -indicative of how much-
the team has improved over the sea-
son. Through dedication and hard
work this Exeter squad has blos-
somed in the playoffs and . have
played some of their' best ringette
when the . chips are down. Last'
month they. stunned Mitchell. an-
other team they have never de-
feated before. with a 9-5 win in the
opening.match of a three game se-
ries. •
In Huron -Perth playoff ringette
action. the Exeter Junior "C" team
won gold.- Tween "C" won silver.
Tween "A" placed second. the Pe-
tite "C" team won silver and the
Belle "C' team is tied one game a
piece against Seaforth with the fi
nal game on March 26 in Seaforth
Nine Exeter teams will compete In
the .Western Ontario Regional Rio-
gette Tournament in Kitchener this
weekend.
