ZURICH - Jeff Consist, Cam-
bridge, son of Helen and John, won
the March Chamber of Commerce
draw for a two -night stay at Deer-
hurst Resort in Huntsville for two
people.
Thc next draw will be held the

The Zurich and Area Figure Skat-
ing - Carnival was a big success,
with the theme "The Olympic
Dream on Ice It was attended by

silver medalist in rowing, Brian
Peaker, who signed autograph pic-
tures.
Solo skaters were Sarah Rae Lo -
vie, Krista Schilbe, Joe Girouard,
Megan Gingerich, Lisa Forrest, Ju-
lie Hearn and Kimberly Powell.
Thc last day of skating lessons
for the season was on March 11.
On April 12 there is a H.O.M.E.
Bursary Ice Show in Woodstock at
their new arena at 6:15 p.m.
Sarah -Rae Lovic will he repre-
senting the Zurich Club. The skat-
er -of -the -year award went to Mae-
gan Kipter.
A Ladies Auxiliary meeting was
held at the Rest Home on March 4.
Members of the Mennonite Church
Choir provided the program.
President Martha Risi welcomed
the 23 Auxiliary members and two
guests. Mary Ducharme gave the

The Bean Festival quilt was dis-
played and tickets are available
from Donna Klopp (ticket conven-
er). A "Trip Around the World"
quilt will be drawn at the residents'
family dinner in June. •
Region #3 annual meeting will be
held at the Blue Water Home on
April 23. All members are invited
to attend. Registration is $8 which
includes lunch.
A birthday party was held March
11 hosted .by the Zion Lutheran
Church Women from Dashwood.
A Mother's Day Tea and Bazaar
will he held on May 10 from 2 to
3:30 p.m.
The Women's Institute held a
meeting at the Town Hall on
March 3 with President Bridget
Groot. A quilting bee was held and
they enjoyed a potluck supper.
During the March Break the
grades 7, 8 and 9 students from St.
Boniface youth group will have a
24-hour fast in the school gym on
March 20-21. Those taking part
need sponsors and the money
raised will go to Development and
Peace for Lent.
The Girl's Club of the Mennonite
Church held a Starve -a -then on
March 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
with the . money raised going to
charity.
The next C.W.L. meeting at St.
Boniface Church Hall will be held
March 18 following the 7:30 Mass
for vocations.
A Day of Reflection will he held
on March 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 3
p.m. with Mass at 11 a.m. Bring
along a brown bag lunch and cof-
fee will he available.
A volleyball tournament will be
held this Friday night and Satur-
day, sponsored by St. Boniface K.
of C., at the school gym and the
Zurich Arena. Contact Peter Ma -
thonia for more information.
A busload of senior students of
St. Boniface School .left Tuesday
for a four day trip to Quebec' as
partof their French education.
There will be a presentation of
Spring Tulip Time in Holland,
Michigan at the Mennonite Church
on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. to pre-
pare for a bus trip •from May 17 to

The Optimist Club is sponsoring
free skating for children and their
parents on March 19 from 2 to 4
p.m. at the arena. There will be free
popcorn and hot chocolate.
The Z.M.A.A. will he holding
baseball registration at the Zurich
Arena on March 15 from 10 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Coaches are needed.

The students of grades 7 and 8 of
St. Boniface School went on a ski
trip to London last Tuesday with
teachers Mrs: Grcgus and Mr. Reil-
ly and some parents.
Pastor Fr. Matthias Wronski cele-
brated his 30th anniversary • in the
priesthood on March 9 with a Mass
of Thanksgiving celebrated with
Fr. Joseph Finn.
The Knights of Columbus
formed an Honor Guard for the oc-
casion. Special poems and - songs
were presented by the K of C.
C.W.L., and the school children.
The pastor has been in Zurich for
four years . now. A parish get-
together and potluck brunch was
enjoyed at the Community Centre
afterwards.
The theme for the World Day of
Prayer service held at the United
Church in Zurich recently was
"Like a Seed, Which Grows Into a
Tree." Cynthia Lazard was guest
soloist. Women from churches in
the area took part in the program.

to his Spruce Villa apartment re-
turned recently from a two-month
holiday in Arizona.

division recently, spent a week vis-
iting with her son Guy and Rima
Garnhum in Niagara Falls.,She was
helping out with hew new grand-
son Paul, horn February 19 and his
brother Andre.
A bridal shower was held for
Tammy Rader, .daughter of Rose
and Richard Rader, Dashwood on
March 9 at the Community Centre.
A surprise birthday party , was
held for Dorothy Bedard was held
March 8 in Exeter at the home of
her son Aubrey and Wendy Bed-
ard. Sons Pat and Larry attended
and she received a phone call from
granddaughter Tara Bedard
CDCS holds
annual
pancake supper
-CLINTON - Over 500 people
consumed thousands of pan-
cakes, 350 pounds of sausages.
60 litres of ice cream, pitchers
and pitchers of ice cream top-
ping, and they washed it all
down with scores of litres of pop
and cups of coffee and tea.
The items were prepared and
served by students, staff and
many volunteers at the Clinton
and District Christian School
(CDCS). The event, held on Fri-
day, February 28, was the annu-
'al pancake supper at CDCS. _
Parents, students, staff and
friends stirred hatter, •flipped
pancakes and fried sausages
• from 5 - 8 p.m. The estimated
550 guests ate their fill and so
cialized in -the gym and followed
up the meal by playing games of
skill for prizes in several of the
classrooms. Thc proceeds of the
supper went to the student fund
while those`of the games went to
kick start the fundraising efforts
for next years' Grade 7/8 Ottawa
trip.
Woodstock District Basketball
Tournament will be held in Lon-
don on Saturday, March 22.
