To celebrated their accomplishment the pupils shared stories and participated in a trivia book quiz during a book party on Friday. Register for Granton's minor ball By Muriel Lewis Granton correspondent GRANTON - Minor baseball reg- istration will be held at the Granton Park Pavilion on Saturday March 15 and 22. World Day of Prayer , The World Day of Prayer service was held at the Granton United Church on Friday evening, March 7. It was written by the South Kore- an Christian Women with the theme 'Like a seed which grows into a tree'. Cheryl Wright read the preface which told of the wars and divisions within Korea. Leader and reader parts were taken by Cathie Wcstman, Edith Eaton, Audrey Wessman, Pat Hariton, Amelia Jameson, Ruth Parkinson and Don- na Wcstman. A short skit entitled 'Confession of the Seed' was dramatized by Marguerite Garrett, Margaret Bryan, Elizabeth Garrett and April Bryan. The service was inter- spersed by hymns accompanied by LyndaiBloom on the piano. At the Granton United Church on Sunday March 9 Betty Sangster led the service when her sermon was entitled 'Grace enough for every- one' based on the lessons from Ephesians 2 and Mark 2. - Flowers in the sanctuary were in memory of Mary and Floyd Dykes from their family. At St. Pauls Anglican Church, Kirkton Rev. Glena Meakins mes- sage was about God's love for the world and the redemption of sin through His son Jesus Christ. The lessons were read by Cathy and John Urquhart and the minister. A time of fellowship followed the service. UCW Unit one met. at Amelia Jame - son's home for a potluck lunch at noon on Thursday March 6. Audrey Westman opened the meeting with a meditation . 'tranger at the Spring', followed by , the Lords prayer. During the roll call (.'.,hie Lee 'gave each one an Easter card which she had made. During the business the World Day of Prayer and the Lenten luncheon on March 26 were discussed. Amelia Jameson continued the program by reading an article about 'Swarming -out of failure, hope.' Madeline Hardie concluded with a challenging contest of boy's names and their nicknames. Unit two met on Monday eve- ning, March 3 at Debbie Toll's place. Toll was also in charge of the program when a video entitled 'the Inside Story' was shown which portrayed the journey into self es- teem. President Pam Mayes led the business when plans were made for a bridal shower for Becky Bryan on March 20. Refreshments were served by the hostess. ,Unit 3 ,met on Tuesday night, March 4 at ' Marion Thomsons home. The president Elizabeth Gar- rett led the business when final ar- rangements were made about some pie making later this month. Marion Thomson then read 'Signs of Spring' and Helen Burnett gave a reading about the true meaning of Easter. She also had a flower con- test on each different flower and Golden Glimpses Blue Water Rest Home ZURICH - The Monday after- noon movie at Blue Water Rest Home was "Hondo" and the Sun- day afternoon movie was "Fly Away Home". Tuesday evening the Auxiliary visited with Mary Ellen Gingerich as Chairperson. Mary Ellen brought along the "Praise Team" from Zu- rich Mennonite Church who played the piano and guitar to "We Are Onc in The Bond of Love; I'm So Glad I'm Apart of the Family of God; Help us Live in Peace." The residents sang along to "What a Friend We Have In Jesus; The Old Rugged Cross; I Come To The Gar- den Alone; How Great Thou Art; and Amazing Grace". Pearl Ann Martin played a medley on the pia- no and Auxiliary members Donna Klopp, Marilee Ayotte and Theresa Stark supplied the lunch. Bible Study was led in the Chap- el Wednesday morning by Della Gascho of Zurich Mennonite Church. Rev. Tracey Crick, Varna/ Goshen United Church conducted Thursday afternoon Chapel Ser- vice. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated Mass. Thursday evening was residents council and the residents expressed feelings of spring fever with re- quests to dine out at Millington's in Brucefield, an afternoon or evening of bowling and a shopping trip to London. Gladys and her "Merry Makers' visited the home on Friday after- noon and presented a wide range of Irish music for the residents - "My Wild Irish Rose, Tennessee Waltz", etc. Many residents waltzed to the merry tunes. Condolences go to the family of the late Beulah Marie Desjardine who passed away at BWRH on March 6 in her 95th year. Beulah came to the Home from Dashwood two and a half years ago. She was one remarkable lady who always had a cheerful, appreciative dispo- sition and graciously called staff members by name. Beulah will be missed by her family, friends and staff! Welcome to Herbert "Hcrbie" Louis Schludt of Dashwood. Her- bie is meeting many of his former acquaintances at the home. Welcome to Marie Juliette De- nomme of Zurich/Blue Water High- way. Best wishes to Ruby Ellen Fulch- er who after spending a week with her son Jeff of Vanastra, moves out west to live with her son Frank and family in Edmonton. We wish Ruby well in her new location and many years of health and happi- ness. The residents look forward to an afternoon St. Patrick's Day tea and Green Day March 17, the Christian Reformed Church on March 18, Lakeview Conservative Mennonite Church, March 19 and Max Du- charme and "The Town Liners" March 20. their meaning. The guest speaker was Kate O'Neil of this area who with her family operates a funeral home in •London. She • gave much insight into their duties- and experiences over 35 years. Hostess Marion Thomson and Helen Burnett served refreshments. Granton 4 H On Thursday. March 6 the #1 Granton 4 H Club gathered at the home of leader Jean Mcllhargey for their fourth meeting of 'Milk Makes it better.' 1 First the group voted on their title pages and Krystal and Cheryl Har- rigan had the bekt. Then,Aehieve- ment night was discussed and Char- lotte Mcllhargey demonstrated how to make butter from scratch.; r Groups were formed to make whole wheat yogurt pancakes, ma- ple Nutter, herb veggie dip and veg- etables, and dill dip all of which tasted very good with a drink pro- vided .by Lisa Dokter. The presi- dent Mary Mcllhargey then closed the meeting with the 4 H motto.
