him letters
about wcird
and wonderful,
as well as fa-
mous and not
so famous people, events and cor-
ners of their Ontario com-
munities. He weaves details to-
gether using .. poetic • license -
wherever needed and present's the
stories- back to his listeners in
song. _
James has travelled the back
roads of the Canadian music
scene for a quarter of a century
and is the founding father of the
Canadian fol:
kie-type group

Seniors support
Big Brothers
and Big Sisters
EXETER - -.The ' Exeter seniors
met March 4 for their regular meet
ing. The decorations. for the pot
luck supper were alf in green in
honor of St. Patrick's Day. -
After supper the regular meeting
was opened by President Lila Ellis
singing 0 -Canada followed by the
Lord's" Prayer. Birthday greetings
were sung to Marion Frayne, Clay-
ton Merner and Eldon Heywood.
Anniversary.greetings were sung to
Elsie and Lee Jori.
Ellis read a poem on How grows
-the Four Leaf clover. The minutes
of -the last meeting -and the. Trcasur
er's report -were read.
Correspondence was read from
the Seniors ' Magazine .concerning
information .on our drug plan for
seniors and what effect it can have,
and also on the tax credit act. It
asked each senior to.write to Shir-
ley Patterson or get in touch with
Helen Johns .and voice their opin-
ion. Seniors must take -a Stand for
..what they think is 'proper, a stand
• that shows we do care. As a club
we are members of the U.S.C.O.
(United Senior Citizens of Ontario) -
and should support the work they
do for all seniors.
Twenty five dollars was given to
" the Bowl for Big Sisters and Big
Brothers from he Club.
- It ecidcd to invite other
seniors clubs to join our club for an
evening out. -
A bus trip to Humnview to help
celebrate birthdays was well re.
ceived. The residents were enter-
tained by the music of Doug Ste-
phens, Cliff Jaques and Wilma
DavisrSamSk4 ncr and Doris Den-
ham also. entdrtained with their
dancing dolls and horses.
Marion Frayne, Geraldine Smith,
Vera Armstrong and Sabrina Lito-
borski will play bingo at the Villa
for March.
Cards were sent to Shirley
Wright and Chris Phillips for a
•speedy recovery and sympathy to
Marion Frayne.
June Hodgson gave a report on
-the Senior. Games. All seniors 55
years of age and older are welcome
to compete. Play-offs start April
28. Anyone -interested can call
,Hodgson at 235-2E94.
There will be a Euchrcama at
Parkhill April -10, Lucan April 17
and Strathroy, May 1. All games
start at 10 a.m. The S4 price in-
cludes lunch and prizes.
As entertainment, Chris Phillip
gave some readings, Dons Denham
told some jokes and Wilma Davis
played while we sang some Irish
songs. Craig and Scott Skinncr on
guitar, and Sara Hodge on key-
board accompanied - Jacqueline
Skinner as she sang. Craig also
played several selections on the pi-
ano.
The evening closed with the Sen-
ior's Prayer and The Queen.

Teacher offers breakfast class
LUCAN What did you have for breakfast this morning?
In an effort to teach people how to make, healthier breakfasts, Lucan area
resident Linda Salts will host a cooking class for up to eight participants
•. from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in herhome on March 22.
The What's For Breakfast workshop will involve cooking with whole
grains, featuring recipes that are free of sugar, dairy, wheat and fat in-
gredients.
Salts; a public. school teacher who studies holistic nutrition, claims her
November -. Healthy Breakfasts - Happier Kids workshop was a success,
with participants learning new nutritional skills.
