Flood forecasting and warning joint venture
EXETER - Everything is on track
with the' flood forecasting and
warning joint venture of the Upper
Thames River, Ausable-Bayfield
and Maitland Conservation Author-
ities. Sharing staff's -engineering
expertise among the three water-
sheds -will result in more effective
service delivery to -residents, and
improve coverage of the- system.
The Upper Thames is also continu-
ing to keep the Lower Thames Val-
ley .Conservation Authority advised
of any possible flood situations, to
ensure coordinated coverage of the
entire Thames River system. '
The three Conservation Authori-
ties monitor watershed conditions
year round for potential flooding
'situations, Currently, snow cover
and accumulated water in the snow
pack are at or below long-term av-
erages for this time of year. In the
UTRCA and ABCA watersheds, ar-
eas north of a line .from Exeter to
.St. Marys are at near. normal condi-.
tions; areas .south of the line tend to
have below normal depths- of snow
and water content. In the MVCA
watershed, snow conditions are at
or slightly below Iong=terni averag-
es. The recent rainfall was general-
ly soaked up by the -existing snow
cover, and, therefore, had very little
effect on streams and rivers.
Looking forward to spring break -
"up based on the present.conditions,
mild weather combined with heavy
.rainfalls would create the greatest
potential for flooding problems.
Conservation Authority staff will
be closely monitoring watershed
conditions to.ensure that municipal-
ities 'are advised of any potential
flooding problems.
With the numerous mild periods
we have had this winter, ice condi-
tions are considered to be very un-
safe. 'While some areas may have
'normal ice cover, other areas have
been weakened by thawing or ice
movement. Small streams . and
creeks are generally flowing b
have snow and ice covered banks,
snaking them very dangerous areas
for anyone to be near.

A well prepared resume will help you
get the job you are looking for!
A resume detailing art applicant's work history and
education is extremely helpful to an employer who
is seeking a person for a specific job vacancy.
Your personal resume should accompany
your letter of application.
Here are some guidelines to follow in preparing your resume:
D - Make it clear, concise and easy to read - and no longer
than two pages
U The resume should be typed on 8112" x 11" white paper
with enough white space to prevent a cluttered look
O Start with your name, address and phone number
O Next under a sub -heading "Work History" detail the
previous jobs you've held - in reverse date order
- that is, last job first.
❑ Use a separate paragraph for each position and
precede it with the dates you held that position.
D State the job title, a brief description of the
responsibilities - and the results you achieved.
D The next section of your resume should come under the
sub -heading of "Education". Start with the highest
degree obtained or grade completed, followed by the
name of the institution at which you studied. Follow
this with previous education attainments. At the end,
list any specific instructional courses you have
attended in conjunction with your work.
U Under the sub -heading "Affiliations", list memberships
and/or offices held in professional or industry
associations.
O Under the sub -heading "Personal Interests" list any
activities which you feel will be of interest to the
employer - such as volunteer work, etc.
Your letter of application and your resume will be the
factors that make the employer decide whether to short
list you for an Interview. So make It as Impressive
as you can - but stick to the facts.
We can help you get an impressive and
professional -looking resume
