Of course everybody knows that it is on the way: At the Granton United Church on Sunday. February 2, Pastor Nor- malie Voakes entitled the sermon 'Power Filling'. The Sunday School enjoyed lunch after church and then had a skating party in Lucan. The annual meeting at Granton UC will he held next Sunday after church. At St. Pauls Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sunday the Rev. Glenda Meakin led the service of Holy Communion. Her message was about the teaching, preaching and healing_ ministry of Jesus in Galiee and the faith which has been passed to all generations. . Willa Harding has been vacation- ing in Florida with friend Nancy Marshall for the past few weeks. Betty McIntyre and Barbara Cart- er of. Clandeboye WI and Muriel Lewis of Granton W.I. attended the North Middlesex District directors and executive meeting held at the home of the president Katherine McNaughton, near Ilderton on Tuesday, January 28. Birthday cake and coffee were served. - January 17 residents had fun reading fortunes hidden inside for- tune cookies and sipping green tea at a Chinese tea. This activity was part of armchair travel toChina. Max Ducharme and his group of musicians -were scheduled to enter- tain on Saturday January 11 but due tothe snowy weather they post- poned one week. A large .crowd _ap- plauded their performance. January 21 was "Fun -in the Sun" day as residents enjoyed an imagi- nary trip to the sunny south com- plete with a lunch time barbecue - and ice cream. Summer dress was encouraged. It was a fun day for all. A Robbie i3urns party on January 25 featured Ian McCrea and his bagpipe. - January 28 saw. resdients enjoy- ing a snowflake tea.. Providing music to chase the winter .blues were Marjorie Johns, Cliff Jaques, the Christian Reform Choir, Marlene Mathers and Eric Kints, Jack Wilds, and accompany- ing the Lioness were Karen Pass- more and Erin Robilliard. Also entertaining in January were Alpha Taw Sorority, the Senior La- dies and the Legion Ladies who all played bingo with many of the Yil- -- la people, Andrea's Dance Studio children gave a dance demonstra- tion which was popular wi:h every- one. Mary Burton, called out the numbers assisted by Marian Rider and Don- na Webster. Lunch was served by all the chapter members. During the business meeting a letter was read from Family for Children with information and a photo of Dhanabalan,.a grade 5, student who the group supports in Bangladesh. President Shirley Walkom read information about the sorority convention to be held -in North Bay, October 3, 4 and 5. It was decided to provide prize money for the school section of the Kirk - ton Agricultural Fall Fair. The next meeting- will he February 4.
