Everyone participated to their level of ability and follow- ing exercises several word games, a quit and singing were enjoyed. In the afternoon the video in our se- ries, The Wonders of Gods Crea- tion, "Human Life" was shown. Residents have really • appreciated this series and thank Marg Cole for loaning them to us. Tuesday Rev. Di Novo of Bruce - field United Church led Worship Service. Thank you' to Rev. Di Novo for a terrific sermon and also Sharen Dignan for leading the sing- ing. Breakfast Club was well attended Wednesday. Choice of breakfast music was a Guy Lombardo tape. Wednesday afternoon' residents benefitted from Aromatherapy as feet were massaged with essential oils, lavender and tangerine. Nursing Home Resident Council met Friday morning and Retire- ment Home Operations group met in the afternoon. Coming events for February were discussed and resi- dents input was sought. Lori Je- witt, Festival Committee member states, "We are really looking for- ward to the upcoming Festival to increase the awareness and appreci- ation of literacy in our area. Western theme at Blue Water ZURICH - Residents of the Blue Water Rest Home travelled down the trail with the "Wizard of Oz" on Monday afternoon as they watched a movie loaned to them by Joan Stone of Grand Bend. Tuesday morning the residents' Grade 5 Buddies from' St Boniface School, Zurich, along with Sister Susan and her volunteers visited the home for a morning of table games. Yahtzi, Sorry, Trouble, Snakes and Ladders, Checkers and card games kept all the thinking caps busy. Wednesday the home was a buzz in preparation for the Annual Staff/ Resident Potluck Supper: this year with a country theme. Staff mem- bers prepared a couple of their fa- vourite dishes, invited a Resident - Guest to attend and sipped hot apple cider from the bar in the re- ception- area and mingled near the "Outback Jack" fireplace before es- corting their guest (s) to the dining areas. The decorating committee had the main dining room and audi- torium all decked out with cacti, horse and cowboy/girl silhouettes. The auditorium was adorned with western paraphernalia of boots, saddles, bridles, reins, bits, blankets and horseshoes. Everything but a real live horse! Huron Ridge Flow- ers in Zurich loaned the Home real cacti for table centres and buffet ta- bles. The warm glow of the lit oil lamps and lanterns on the dining ta- bles gave the rooms the finishing touch. - Residents and staff dressed in country/western attire; cowboy hats, shirts, scarves and boots, with denim material for skirts dresses, jeans and shirts. The organizing committee included Patty Groot, Shelley Bender, Betty Kirk, Ann McBride, Ervin Steinmann, Barba- ra Shephard, Veronica Bedard, Marg Gingerich and Cathy Shantz. After dinner, the Carry on Clog- gers from the Clinton area under the supervision of their - teacher Norma Prescator came to entertain the residents and staff. Gani Lazaro, Dashwood/ Zurich United Church, lead Bible Study in the Chapel. Tenants of Maplewoods Apart- ments enjoyed a roast beef dinner at the Home on February 3. Louise Hayter, Ina Necb, Helen and Lloyd Ottcrbein, Laura Gascho, Ila O'Rourke, Gertrude Durand, Meda O'Brien, Vera -Shantz, Verda Baechler and Lottic Grenier visited over coffee and extended Josef Risi, their host and driver hest wishes for his birthday. The Residents enjoyed the second half of "Gone With the Wind" on •Monday afternoon. Our best wishes to Eleanor Watson who is in St Joseph's Hospital. The Residents look forward to a visit from the Auxiliary February. 4, making pizza February 6, and on Valentine's Day, the Grand Bend Golden Agers will entertain the res- idents in the afternoon.
