New powerful heartburn medications are on the
market in North America (eg., Pepcid AC).
These work very well but shouldn't be used reg-
ularly for more than two weeks. Overuse, may
mask a problem•more serious than heartburn.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist. -
Meditation methods like Transcendental. Meditation (TM) have -been
around for years. Research done on meditators prove that these relaxa-
tion techniques, when practiced for 20 minutes twice daily, do lower
blood pressure and with no side effects. If you do start this type of ac-
tivity, tell your doctor.
Medical milestone: It was back in 1890 that surgeons at Johns Hop-
kins Hospital in Baltimore began using rubber gloves during surgery.

Now, in the middle of the cough and cold 'season; might be .a good L
time to report increased evidence "that zinc lozenges appear to help
shorten the duratioh of a cold. Zinc seems to have some antiviral ef-
fects and immune system -boosting effects. Start taking the lozenges
within 24 hours of the first signs of the cold.
