ago has been covered in a blanket

Exams begin this Friday and run -until January 24. If there happens -
to be a snow dayduring this time, exams will he pushed back one day.
Theschoolwill he open for any students who need extra help: You
can listen to CFPL pr CKNX on the radio for any cancellations. There -
• is:a P.A.Dayon January 27, but if there is a snow day, exams will he ,
on this day.
On January 28. the morning will he. a Day 1. semester I. Students
I can hand in all their hooks that morning. The afternoon wilibe a Day
I, semester 2. Students will go to their new classes. On Wednesday.

yearbooks can pick them up in the office: You must bring receipts and

dine. On Saturday. they lost their first game, but convincingly defeat-

parenting held
in Huron Park
HURON PARK - Free parenting sessions named Childreach: feel-
: ing good about parenting. are being held at the Annex Building of
the Huron Park Community Centre from Jan..14 to Feb. 1.1. '

cialize with other parents and learnhelp-
ful hints on how to feel gpod about
being a parent,". reads a recent flyer
distributed by the Children's Aid

Discussion will focus on parenting in general as well as self-
esteem. This is the first time such sessions have been held in the
area for some time, added Cantelon, who leads.- other parenting
groups throughout the county including Enjoying Your Preschooler
• (in Clinton) and Parenting Teens in the ft's (in Goderich).

January 9, at Grand Bend United
Church..
President Evelyn Johnson opened
with 'a reading "Every day is a new
beginning. _ -
Betty Gurnell conducted worship`.
with scripture, and a -story on "Pow-
er Failure". Irene Kennedy accom-
panied on the piano for the hymns.
Lola Jackson gave. an' account of
the spiritual journey of her life dur-
ing the program. .
- Johnson conducted the business
and Ina Flewelling_filled in asAsec-
retary.
Thank you letters were read for
plants sent. at. Christmas time. It
-was decided to hold the February
meeting a week early on February
6. Plans were. discussed for serving
lunches at the church after the Win -
:ter Festival Parade on February 15.
It was announced that Grand
Bend United Church would be
hosting the World Day of Prayer in
March.
The roll call was answered by 17_
members -telling about "A dream
for our church."°
"Happy Birthday" was sung for
iva Latta. and LorcaGill for Janu-
ary birthdays.
Needed items
sent to, Haiti
EXETER - Last week's photo of
Ed Potter neglected to mention he
was assisted by Emil Liehmann -
who stored and heiped transport 'the
repaired bicycles. Along with the
bicycles, a hundred much-needed
water pumps and other items were
shipped -to Haiti. Potter will be in
Haiti in March to help install some
of these pumps. •
Lunch hostesses were Norma
Wainer and iva Latta.

their euchre party at the Legion hall
on January 8 with 12 tables in play.

tures read by Anne Reycraft.

and told them how the wise men
followed the star to Bethlehem.

Women's Institute met at the hall
January 7 for the International Af-
fairs Meeting with Brenda Shep-
pard as convener. The meeting

tary and- treasurer's reports were
read. During the business the mem-
hers. favourably replied to reduce
the number of Provincial Board Di-
rectors in the London area and the

tricts. Members were reminded to
bring a milk recipe to be compiled
into a booklet for the- February 19th
"Celebrating the Century."
The program consisted of the
•motto "There is a blessing ail .man-
kind wishes for.... Peace given by
Brenda Sheppard. Twp contests fol-
lowed - "The Geography Lesson"
and "The World's ;Easiest Quiz"
and also a poem '`One' step won't
take you very far". The current
events outlined "Looking -hack in -
1996". Members then filled in a
sheet of special days and dates in
1997. After a %inch• of muffins and -
jams, every member selected lucky- -
prizes .
