Queensway residents enjoy New Years Eve card party HENSALL - Tracy Whitson- Bahro, Youth Pastor at Cavan Pres- byterian Church led a worship ser- vice Tuesday at Queensway Nurs- ing Home in Hensall. The residents of Queensway brought in the New Year with a progressive euchre party in the lounge. There was also a table of Scrabble players and a table of "31" players. High man and high lady at euchre were Everett Gal- lagher and Diane Poisson. Low man and low lady were Pat Volland and Ceacilia Edgar. At the 31 table, High was Shirley 'Stolle and Low was Glenn Gascho. At Scrabble, high was Mildred Gingerich and Low Kay Mock. Prizcs were dis- tribute& in each category following the games and then hot d'oeuvres, fruit breads, cheese and chocolate eclairs were served, along with egg- nog and juice. Volunteers helped make the fun evening possible. Several resident bakers met Fri- day afternoon and whipped up date loaves, cheese and raisin scones. Tea time followed. Friendship Friday in the Retire- ment Home Lounge featured Clare Masse and Andrew Rau. Coming events January 9, 2 p.m., Nashville Re- jects entertain "Just Because It's January"; January 17, 7:30 p.m., Friendship Friday with Doug Insley. Huron Country Playhouse Zine -up for summer season GRAND BEND - Places, please! Huron Country Playhouse is pleased to announce the complete line-up for its 1997 summer season. On the main stage, kicking off the season, June 11 is L. Frank Baum's classic, The Wizard of Oz. Join us on our journey down the most famous road in musical thea- tre history - the yellow brick road. Second in line for the main stage (July 1 - July 12) is Bill C. Davis' comedy, Mass Appeal. The New York calls it "First rate... a wise, moving and very funny comedy about the nature of friendship and courage." Noises Off by Michael Frayn highlights the middle (July 15 - July 26) of the main stage fine -up. Experience the hilarious antics of a troupe of actors rehearsing a play that isn't half as amusing as the personal shenanigans going on be- hind the scenes. , Kash and Hughes' will continue to keep audiences guessing in the tradition of the classic "who dun - nit" with a A Party to Murder (July 29 - August 9). Arc you into ama- teur sleuthing? Check out the "par- ty" scene at this secluded island re- treat. Finally, the main stage line-up closes our season with Lerner and Loewe's enchanting musical, Brig- adoon (August 12 - August 30). Come home this summer to the magical Scottish town of Briga- doon. if you wait, it may be another 100 years before you get this op- portunity again. Huron Country Playhouse also is proud to present on our Playhouse Ii stage, Billy Bishop Goes To War, written by John Gray with, Eric Peterson (July 9 - July 19). Billy Bishop Goes To War has been produced by just about every regional theatre in Canada and the United States and on Broadway. For this one man show, Gray has created a cast of 17 characters. His blend of melodies and lyrics will move you to tears and laughter as you share the innocence and naive- te that protects Billy on his journey through the toughest of times on the road to manhood. Rounding out the season in Play- house II 's I Do! I Do! A Musical About Marriage (July 30 - August 19). Based on The Fourposter by Jan de Hartog, with book and lyr- ics by Tom Jones, and music by Harvey Schmidt, 1 Do! I Do! is the story of a marriage. The story of Michael and Agnes -- a chronicle of a life together: .the birth of their children, quarrels, money . prob- Iems,'love, all told in a warm sen-, timental style - sometimes tongue- in-cheek, sometimes brassy and . bold, alternately soft and touching. Finally, the concert calendar at Huron Country Playhouse promik- es to be the biggest and best in its 26 year history. The concert calen- . , dar kicks off July 6 with those per- ennial favourites The Nylons. July 20 is the date when Vancouver's Spirit of the West blows into town. The concert scene rounds out the season with, the Celtic sounds of Leahy on August 17. All concert performances start at 8 p.m. An added bonus to all patrons for the 1997 season, is the early open- ing of our box office on March 31. Angela Jayne Reid and Randy Anthony Regier were joined in marriage September* 21, 1996 at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Clinton with the Rev. R. Hiscox officiating. Angela Is the daughter of Dean and Linda Reid of Clinton. She was attended, by her sister, Stacey Reid as best woman. Sister-in-law Debbie Regier, and friends Tricia Cooper and Susan Jewitt were brides- maids. Randy Regier is the son of Pet and Evelyn Regier' of RR3 Zurich. The best man was Darren Rau, Ushers were his brothers, Dan Regier, Pat Regier, and friend/cousin Wayne Regier. Junior Usher was Joseph Regier and Cait-' lyn Murphy was the junior bridesmaid. Following the cer- emony, guests gathered .at' 'the Reid's residence. A recep- tion was held at Hensall Com- munity Centre. The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico and now reside at 306 Carling St. Exeter. We ex- tend a heartfeltthankyou to everyone for making' our day so special. Randy. and Angela Have ,a Call the TTrii 235-1331 Dining for Seniors enjoy Christmas entertainment EXETER - Exeter Dining for Seniors enjoyed a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on Decem- ber 17. Rev. Dan Roushorne gave a •.Christmas message. Santa and an elf greeted everyone and handed out candies. The Joy Bells from Mitchell entertained with a delight- ful bell ringing presentation. Gerry Dobrindt's "Christmas 1996 poem was read and a copy given to all. Mary Neil gave a read- ing entitled "Autobiography of a Christmas Tree". • On December 10 Harriet Vander- burght and Diane Miller enter- tained with some beautiful Christ- mas songs. On December 3 the "Cloggers" entertained with their dancing feet. Keyboard players for the month were Jean Hodgert, Maxine Sereda, and Josie Ryckman. Draw prizes were won by Gerry and Erma Do- brindt, Stewart Miner, Louise Car- son, Bea Munn, .Olga Davis, Mary Smits, Marjorie , Dykeman, Jeanne Harris and Ruth Arthpr. Happy New Year to alt! December busy month at Villa EXETER - December was the busiest month of the year at Exeter Villa. The farhily Christmas dinner was .very well attended. A light .tour around Exeter on a Charterways bus was very enjoyable. The Holly Festival tea at the villa was highlighted by the Christmas Lucky Draw. Winners were: 1st, Chris 'Wilcox; 2nd, Edith Bell, 3rd, Mary Kenny. Many thanks to all who, purchased tickets and congrat- ulations to the winners. . Music, especially Christmas car- ols were enjoyed by all. Many groups contributed including the Merry Markers; the Grand Cove Singers; Murray and Mary; Doug Lewis Group, Christie Dow, Chris- tian Reformed Choir; Eugene Hart- man, Calvencttes; Country Korncrs group; Satchel's Orchestra; and several groups of carollers. The New Years party featured entertain- ment by Bob.Heywood.
