HENSALL - One hundred and
six dollars in pennies, plus $5.95 in
loose change.
That's what the newly -formed
Penny Club gathered together and
donated to the Huron County
Christmas Bureau this year.
What makes this fundraiser dif-
ferent from many others? It con-
sists of nine grade 4 Hensall Public
School girls who, with the help of
their parents, raised the funds.
The group began in mid-October
when Club Secretary Lindsay Allen
had an idea.

laying around at home," she ex-
plained.
The girls, who held
weekly after school meet-
ings at their homes, orig-
inally aimed for $10.
That projection quickly
changed to $14, then rose
to $20. At $23, their par-
ents matched the amount
and donated additional
funds.
The club considered
buying C!;ristmas Bureau
gifts with the money but
decided instead to make a bank de-
posit and write a cheque to the bu-
reau.

who makes a habit of
taking her kids shopping
for bureau items every
year. "I was proud of
them...it shows little
ones can make a differ-
ence too."

appealing to local businesses for

How are you and Mrs. Claus? I hope
you are all doing well. Is Rudolph
and the other reindeer ready to go
out Christmas Eve? I will leave you
some milk and cookies and I will
also leave some carrots for the ,.
reindeer. I have tried to be a good
boy all year and so has my little brother Jacob. I
would really like a John Deere tractor and a Jeff
Gordon race car. My brother Jacob would like a truck
and John Deere tractor too!
