BRUCEFIELD - Christmas lights
and decorations set the atmosphere
for the December meeting of
Y.F.C. at Huron Centennial School.
A good number of youth came
out for the Youth for Christ rally on
Saturday evening December 7.
The youth sat at tables +;overed
with paper where they were encour-
aged to doodle on. At half time the
pictures were judged and t prize
given to the best one. For admis-
sion they brought an item for the
Food Bank.
A Bible quiz was conducted with
three teams participating, from
Goderich, Zurich and Centralia.
They were entertained by sing-
ing group from Kitchener called
"Kindred Spirit". The leader of the
group was Dwayne Martin, former-
ly of Zurich.
Bowls of snack food and pop
were available for a minimal fee.
The evening was enjoyed by every-
one.
The next rally will be a talent
night on January 3.
Cantata at
Community
Bible Church
GRANTON - Nearly 100
people are preparing a Black
Gospel style Christmas cantata
performance at Community
Bible Church this Christmas
season. The cantata, "0 Come,
Emmanuel" uses a sound track
recorded by the Brooklyn Tab-
ernacle Choir and Singers on
"Christmas at the Brooklyn
Tabernacle", Warner Alliance
cassette. But instead the singers
will be members of the Com-
munity Bible Church, young
and old, who have been prepar-
ing for many weeks to present
this show to the community.
There are familiar carols in
the cantata like, "The Little
Drummer Boy" and "Have a
Merry, Merry Christmas".
There are new songs like "Hap-
py Birthdays Jesus" audL "Light
'or a Mititonl VorWine Some
songs are tender; most are with
great energy and with a rubato
or reggae rhythmic feel too.
Being there for this cantata
will really put some new dyna-
mism into everyone's celebra-
tion of Christmas this year. Sat-
urday, December 14 and
Sunday December 15 at 7:30
p.m. are the performance dates
and times. Come early for a
seat - Community Bible
Church, corner of Adelaide and
Hwy. #7.

EXETER - The evening unit of
Exeter United U.C.W. met Decem-
ber 2 in the ladies parlour with unit
leader Norma Cockwill presiding.
She welcomed 34 members with a
poem entitled "Winter", followed
by the U.C.W. purpose. The min-
utes and treasurer's report were
given.
Bev Campbell asked members
not to bring styrofoam articles to
- the church as they are not recycla-
ble. Norma Hooper reminded eve-
ryone of the "Friends of Music"
concert December 15 at 7:30 p.m.
There is a "Blue Christmas" service
planned for December 22 at 7:30
p.m. as well as the Christmas Eve
services at 7:30 and 11 p.m. De-
cember 24.
The worship service was under
the leadership of Dorothy Taylor
who used the birth of Jesus as her
theme.
Assisting her were Grace Drum-
mond, Grace Ballantyne, Laurie
Shapton, Leona Elliott and Bev
Prout. Ballantyne read the legend
of the Christmas rose and then
passed around some freshly picked
roses. Elly VanBergen performed a
monologue portraying Nathan, one
of the shepherds.
Rebecca Prout and Lindsay
Holdsworth entertained with sever-
al piano solos and Christmas songs
and Laurie Shapton told of her trip
t6 the Holy Land last March. Pic-
tures and snapshots were passed
around while she answered many
questions.
Detrotions closed with prayer and
everyone enjoyed an angel cake
dessert prepared by Elsie Her-
mann's group.
