December 5 with a potluck dinner
at 6 p.m. at the Varna Church.
A church service will be held in
Varna next Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
The Stanley Township Rec Com-
mittee have made plans for a truck
elimination draw. There will be
three early bird draws: the first one
December 31 for $500; the second
one February 15 for $250.00 and
one on April 6 for $250.00. The fi-
nal draw will be held May 31 with

cost $12. The proceeds go to the
Blyth Festival, Huron Country
Playhouse and the St. Marys Com-
munity Players.

STAFFA - The November meeting of the Matta women's Institute, was
held in the township hall on November 20 at 1:30 p.m. President Kay
Smale presided, welcoming everyone and opening with a poem "The First
Snowflake", followed by the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, ac-
companied by pianist Betty Lou Norris.
The minutes were read and approved and correspondence read. It was
decided to look into the cost of a Women's Institute sign and Claudette El-
liott volunteered to check out prices etc.
Joyce Miller reported on the London Area Convention and the Perth
South District banquet which she had attended.
Roll call was answered by bringing and displaying a craft you were
working on.
Miller introduced the guest for the afternoon, Elaine Colquhoun, who
displayed articles which she had tole painted. Colquhoun demonstrated
how to prepare the material and how to mix your paints. Colquhoun was
thanked by Verle Mahon. Roberta Templeman gave a reading, "I'm Fine
Thank You". Following the singing of 0 Canada, a social time was en-
joyed.
Staffa Women's Institute sponsored a health information meeting in the
township hall on Tuesday evening with over 35 in attendance.
Walter McKenzie chaired the meeting and introduced the speakers from
the Huron -Perth task force unit, Janet Hook and Pat Petrie.
There are eight hospitals involved in the Huron -Perth unit. The task
force is made up of 10 volunteers from each of Huron and Perth counties.
WMS
President Peggy Kerslake presided for the annual meeting of the Marion
Ritchie WMS, opening with "Discover Kind Speak" followed by a hymn.
The roll call was answered with a verse on salt.
Secretary and Treasurers reports were given. During business the musi-
cal evening with the Klaussens on November 28 was discussed.
Plans were made for the upcoming joint Christmas party. Jean Carey
will preside for the evening with the Marion Ritchie responsible for the
program and the Ladies Aid for the lunch.
Everyone is asked to bring a small gift to exchange. Cathie Elliott will
look after the worship service and Carol Ann Scott will provide a special
number.
