Hawks take two on the road
LAMBETH - After stealing a
close overtime game from Mitchell
on Saturday night the Exeter
Hawks rebounded with a con-
vincing 7-2 win over Lambeth on
Sunday.
Lambeth opened the scoring with
two goals in the first period but it
was Exeter's game from that point
on outshooting Lambeth three to
one.
Seven different players scored for
Exeter as Brody Cochlan, Sean
McCann, Jason McBride, Greg
Goodwin, Dan Taylor, Ben
McCann and Joey MacDonald
found the back of the net in Lamb-
eth ending a two game weekend
road trip with four points in the win
column.
Saturday's game, however, was a
different story.
After trailing Mitchell by one
goal at the end of the first period
Sean McCann tied the score in the
second frame off a two-way pass-
ing play assisted by Jeff Glavin and
key MacDonald.
A scoreless third period sent the
game into overtime, but less than
five minutes into the extra frame
Greg Goodwin took a pass from
Chris McDonald and John Rutten
and pumped in the game winner
with a shot from the point.
The Hawks entered the game
missing some key players who are
out of the line-up temporarily with
injuries and went with just three
forward lines.
Exeter coach Dave Revington
said Mitchell carried the play for
most of the game outshooting Exet-
er in all three periods, but he credit-
ed Darren Kints' outstanding per-
formance in net for keeping the
Hawks in contention.
"We were lucky just to get to
overtime...he (Kints) made the dif-
ference," said Revington.
Exeter will see action at home
this Friday when they host Seaforth
at the South Huron Recreation Cen-
tre. On Saturday they play in Park-
hill against the North Middlesex
Stars.
