in Vancouver. British Columbia on
Oct. 12.
Tyndall's students were among
18 different schools in Ontario in-
volved with the karate champion-
ship and they were the only school
which every competitor won at
least one medal in an event.
A total of 11 medals and ribbons
were won by: Julie Rutledge, who
placed first in Kumite and third in
team kata, Amanda Bricker who
placed third in kata. William "BJ"

Tyndall said getting to the na-
tionals in B.C. was an impressive
feat in itself since the students
needed to go through a series of
preliminary tests in Ontario and
had to consistently place within the
top four in points at every competi-
tion in order to qualify .
"It was tough competition just to
even get there," said Tyndall add-
ing there were about 300 to 400
students competing at every qual-
ifying event.
