Opt/mists sponsoring family bowling day

ZURICH - Ken Clarke was the
winner of the early bird draw of the
Zurich and District Skating Club
tickets. He received a color T.V.
Tickets are still on sale for the
second draw to take place on No-
vember 9 for a video camera. The
grand prize will be drawn on De-
cember 28. Tickets cost $20 and
— are available from club members.
CWL
St. Boniface C.W.L. are planning
to have their annual bazaar on No-
vember 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in
their Parish Hall.
St. Peter's C.W.L., St. Joseph, in-
vite everyone to their annual parish
Penny Sale on October 27 from 11
a.m. to 4 p.m. in their hall.
The C.W.L. Huron -Perth Dean-
ery meeting will be held in St. Mar-
ys on October 30 from 9 a.m. to 4
p.m. at Holy Name of Mary
Church. The speaker will be Sister
Frances Ryan. Lunch will cost
$5.00. Phone Joan Regier, 236-
4289 as soon as possible if you
want to go.
Right -to -Life
Anyone wanting tickets for the
Right -to -Life dinner/t.iceting In
Stratford at the K. of C. Nall on
November 7 arc to phone Mary Ja-
cobs at 236-4826. The tickets will
cost $13 and the speaker will be Dr.
Larry Reynolds on the topic of eu-
thanasia.
County plan
Huron County is preparing a new
plan called Economy/Employment.
The first meeting and information
night was held at Erb's Country
Kitchen on October 15, co-
sponsored by Zurich and District
Chamber of Commerce.
If you are interested in learning
more, you can attend the next infor-
mation night, October 30 at 7:30
p.m. at the Town Hall in Wingham,
co-sponsored by the Wingham and
Area C. of C.
The third and last meeting will be
held on November 13 at 7:30 p.m.
in Goderich at the Collegiate Insti-
tute, co-sponsored by the Goderich
and District Chamber of Com-
merce.
Babysitting course
The Zurich & District Optimist
club aria o(ferjng a babysitting
course at the public school gym.
The two-day course will begin on
Friday, November 1 from 6 p.m. to
9 p.m. and on Saturday, November
2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants
are to bring a brown bag lunch on
Saturday. Any 12 -year-olds inter-
ested are to phone Diane Wilds as
soon as possible at 236-7344. The
cost is $10 per person which in-
cludes books. Parents are needed to
help.
Family bowling day
The Optimist Club are sponsor-
ing a free family bowling day tak-
ing place at the Town and Country
Lanes in Zurich on November 10
from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Phone Tony
Bedard at 236-4923 to reserve your
lanes.
Family skating party
The Hay Days family skating
party is planned for October 26 at
the Zurich Arena from 8 p.m. to 11
p.m.
There will be prizes for the best
costumes and free popcorn and re-
freshments. Admission is a non-
perishable food item for Blessings
Unlimited.
Harvest dance
Tickets are now available for the
K. of C. Harvest Dance on Novem-
ber 16 at St. Columban Parish Hall
from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with music
provided by Mozart's Melody
Makers. All proceeds will go to lo-
cal charities.
Halloween party
St. Peter's Lutheran Youth
Group are inviting everyone to a
family Halloween Party on October
27 at 6:45 p.m. in their fellowship
hall.
Admission is a bag of pre -
wrapped Halloween candy to be
used that night. Bring along a
carved or decorated pumpkin for
judging and prizes will be awarded

bicycles
EXETER - The Exeter OPP in-
vites members of the public who
are missing bicycles to visit the de-
tachment on October 28 between
7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
During the past year, several bi-
cycles have been found in the Exet-
er OPP coverage area and these are
currently being stored at the detach-
ment. Without serial numbers, it is
very difficult to establish owership.

The Golden Agers are having a
card party on October 28 at the
Township Hall at 7:30 p.m. The
cost will be $2 at the door.

Open House
The Zurich Public School is plan-
ning to have an Open House and
barbecue supper to show the reno-
vations and meet the teachers on
October 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Minor hockey season passes are
available for $25 from Rick Ginge-
rich or from team coaches.
Bake sale
The Mennonite Church women
are having a bake sale, tea room
and quilt display in the fellowship
hall on October 26 from 10 a.m. to
2 p.m.

Cathi Overholt and Marc Clau-
sius were married at St. Peter's Lu-
theran Church on October 19 by
Pastor Ross Thomson with a dinner
and reception held in Exeter.
The bride is the daughter of Wil-
ly and Martha Overholt, Zurich and
the groom is the son of Wayne
Clausius and Judy Voogel. On re-
turn from a honeymoon to Jamaica,
the couple will be living in Exeter.
Cynthia Tripp and Mark Strick-
land were married in Goderich on
Saturday.
Louis and Cecelia Farwell cele-
brated their 50th wedding anniver-
sary on October 19 with a mass of
Thanksgiving at St. Boniface
Church by Fr. Finn, attended by all
their children and families. A din-
ner was held in their honor in the
parish hall.
A surprise 25th anniversary party
was held for Ken and Joanne Du-
charme, RR 1 Dashwood, at their
home on October 12, with several
friends and relatives attending.
Happy birthday wishes to Cam
Rader last week and happy anni-
versary wishes to John and Mary
Becker, Dashwood on October 20.
Bernadette Denomme and her
sister Therese Stark both of the
Rau Apartments spent the Thanks-
giving weekend in Windsor visit-
ing with relatives and making a vis-
it to the States.
Leo and Irene Hoffman spent a
few days in Sudbury recently visit-
ing friends Donat and Florence Le-
gault.
Welcome back home to Fr.
Wronski, who has been visiting rel-
atives and friends in Poland for the
past five weeks. Fr. Campbell and
Fr. Finn said the weekend Masses
at St. Boniface Church and Fr.
Morris at the Rest Home on Thurs-
day afternoons while Fr. Matthias
was away.
Jerry and Brenda Rader attended
the food show in Toronto last Sun-
day and Monday. They came back
with lots of new ideas for their
business.
Tracy Lockhart of Sherwood
Park, Alberta, returned home on
Sunday after spending a few days
last week visiting her mother Hel-
ene Ducharme and family mem-
bers.
Joanne Lansbergen from Amster-
dam is spending a couple of weeks
visiting with her mother Christina
Lansbergen and family members.
She attended the funeral of nephew
Mark Lansbergen recently.
Ken and Jean Gingerich enjoyed
a bus trip to view the fall colors.
Joe and Rose Regier spent the
Thanksgiving weekend visiting rel-
atives. They saw their new grand-
daughter Kristen in Whitby, Onta-
rio and parents Glen and Kathy
Regier.
