Cromarty Cubs need leader Roberta Templeman Staffa correspondent STAFFA - The group committee of Cromarty Scouts held their Octo- ber meeting in the Daynard Hall. The Scouts reported that five mem- bers participated at the B.P. camp. The two cooks for the campout were Amanda Pullman and Chris Lowe. Three participants, Ryan Simpson, Adam Hope and Derek Jansen, along with their troup lead- ers, Linda and Nelson Pullman, worked on a badge requiring knife sharpening, nature identification, knots and other skills. Cromarty Beavers met for their first meeting with six beavers at- tending. They are Daniel Myers, Harry Thomas, Dan Butson, Shawn Dow, Craig and Trevor Mitchell. The boys decorated baskets in prep- aration for Apple Day. Cromarty Cubs have nine people interested in joining, but a second leader is required before they can begin. If anyone is interested or has suggestions, call Marie Visscher at 345-2780. Quite a number of people from this area were guests at the Rice - Murphy wedding in Thamesview United Church. Pat, Joanne, Mathew and Kelly Donovan, Val D'or, Quebec, spent the holiday weekend with the Tem- pleman family. Dinner guests with Rob and Bev Templeman and family on Monday evening were Chuck and Dorothy Ebel, Goderich and John and Ro- berta Templeman, Staffa. The Cromarty Presbyterian W.M.S. entertained Cromarty women and their twinned group from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Stratford, to a Thanks- giving dinner on Tuesday evening in the church basement, which had been tastefully decorated for the occasion by Betty Lou Norris. Following the dinner, Mary Scott from Knox Presbyterian Church in Stratford, -brought greetings and a thoughtful Thanksgiving message. A duet "Come with me into the fields" sung by Kathy Elliott and Mary Jane Parsons, was enjoyed by all. Sally Scott, Literature Secre- tary for Huron -Perth Presbytery had a display of books for those in- terested to browse or buy. Christmas shoe box program organized Shoe boxes are filled with small gifts for Christmas giving. By Mary Peterson Centralia correspondent CENTRALIA - On Sunday, Oc- tober 20, Rev. Jock Tolmay led the worship at Centralia United Church while Pastor Smith was guest speaker for the Anniversary Service at Thames Road United Church. Rev. Tolmay's sermon was entitled "So What Belongs to God?" Au- drey McFalls thanked the women for their help baking and selling the pies. On October 25, a Youth Dance will be held from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at Zion United Church. Teens from grades nine to 13 are invited to at- tend, and are asked to bring a treat (e.g. pop, chips) to share. Admis- sion will be a loonie plus a canned good for the Food Bank. They are hoping this will be the first event for a new youth group. Centralia United Church will cel- ebrate their anniversary service on October 27. Guest speaker will be Russ Watson. This will be a com- bined service. Sunday School teachers at Cen- tralia are asked to meet Friday, No- vember 1 at 6:30 p.m. The Community of Churches are planning the annual combined wor- ship service at Thames Road Unit- ed Church on November 3 in the evening.
