New B & B to open
by mid-November
The home is located at
the corner of Highway
4,ggid County Road 4
CENTRALIA - The finishing
touches are being put on a new bed
arkd breakfast that will be open for
business by mid-November. "
We would like to have a quiet
home away from home, " said Car-
la.Thompson.
Carla and her husband, Wilson,
along with their daughter Shelby,
y been busy renovating the
e home since early August.
The couple has . redecorated
throughout the house and improve-
mronts include a gas fireplace, an-
tirlue furniture and new hardwood
mors.
The Thompsons call the B &B
'Shall -b -in' after their daughter as
well as to reflect a welcoming at-
mosphere. The house is located on
four acres of land at the caner of
Highway 4 and County Road 4.
The family drove by the property
on the way from London to a cot-
tage in Grand Bend. Often they
envisioned expanding their love of
entertaining into a business. While
Wilson and Carla still hold down
full-time jobs in London, once the
B & B is up and running they home
one will be able to stay home and
run the enterprise.
"On our way we always admired
the house and property." said Wil-
son.
The five guest rooms have been
redecorated in warm earth tones
and the Thompsons have searched
local auctions for antique bedroom
suites. They describe the decora-
tion as being a Victorian theme
"with a unique flavor."
Carla Thompson and her daughter Shelby pose in the newly -
decorated great room of the soon -to -be -open Bed and Break-
fast.

the Ministry of Education and
Training objective of having one
computer in place for every 10 stu-
dents several years ago, the new In-
ternet access to electronic -based
learning resources is creating a dra-
matic learning revolution in Huron

The new dynamic access to e -
learning resources will not replace
textbooks and other more static
materials. Its impact, however, will
increase the daily opportunities for
direct classroom access to new
learning materials in an exponen-
tially growing way.

Selling timber for cash
WXETI?R - Has a log buyer
knocked on your door lately and
asked if you were interested in sell-
ing your timber? This is the time of
year you will be confronted by log
buyers. With the crop being har-
vested, it makes access a lot easier
into your woodlot and prices for
hard maple are at an all time high.
What should you say when a log
buyer comes to the door? Is the
price good for hard maple this
year? Honestly, do you know what
type of trees are in your bush? Ac-
tually before a buyer comes to your
door, he's already scanned your
woodlot and knows the value of
lumber in the bush.
He'll say "Well, I'll give you
$5,000 for all the logs that are har-
vestable." What does that mean'?
The county has a tree cutting by-
law in place that restricts the logger
from cutting trees under a certain
diameter (approximately 18"). This
means that any tree over that diam-
eter is fair game for cutting. You
should mark these trees that you
want cut in your woodlot. Once
you have the trees marked, you
should get two or three price quotes
