To be eligible for an award indi- viduals, organizations or compa- nies must be located in or have completed conservation work in the jurisdiction of the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. Current ABCA staff and directors are not eligible. Last year Garry Palmateer of London received an award. For more than 10 years Garry Palmateer has been a valued advis- or to the ABCA staff in all water quality improvement programs. He has also been a participant, leader and supporter of water quality re- search in the ABCA watershed. He has first hand knowledge of ABCA's watershed drains, streams, • Garay has brought national as well as inteniational recognition to ABCA through successfully pub- lished papers about innovative and ground -breaking research undertak- en in the ABCA watershed. These studies have included transportion and survival of bacteria in wa- tershed drains; impacts of liquid and solid manure application on field tiles; and the rapid detection of E.Coli bacteria in Lake Huron. Lakeshore municipalities have ben- efitted from this for the past two years. The deadline for nominations is November 1.
